Update firmware of N70?

2 replies · 10,480 views · Started 12 May 2008

Hello,

I have an N70 (originally bought from Dubai) got from my friend. I own it for the past 1.5 yrs single use. I have come across many posts in this forum about upgrading the firmware for N70. And most of them compaint of the inability to work properly after the upgrade. Right now for my phone it is:

V 5.0609.2.0.1
01-03-06
RM-84

The phone is working fine, no issues till date (with my little operating experience). I mainly use for calls, camera, music player and radio. Thats it.

I searched the nokia website and found that the latest update available for my phone code is 5.0705.3.0.1. As my phone is working fine at this moment, I want to know is it really needed to update the firmware? Do I gain anything extra? I'm a little hesitant to update it since I saw many posts not favouring the update.

Can anyone please guide me here?

Regards..

If the phone works fine for you as-is, then there is no reason to update the firmware, I would say. You are not going to gain any new functionality by doing so, but mainly just fixes to issues/problems that you apparently haven't encountered, even.

Thanks for the reply. I too think not to go for the update now (maybe will think of it in the future). I have one more question. Currently I have a 512 MB MMC card in the device. I wish to upgrade it to 1 GB. Any particular brands I should be looking for?
