Am just wondering that, in the Custom POI's for Garmin, are you able to show extra details that are stored in the CSV files such as telephone numbers.
I have downloaded a POI Database, and the format in the files are :
Longtitude Latitude Name Details
-4.08889 50.39094 Beefeater, Plymouth +441752600660 The Marsh Mill 01752 600660
Using the internal POI's (ie. under Food, Hotels...) it is able to show the address and the telephone numbers, similar to what is shown under detalils, but cannot see this detail in the custom POI's.

I doubt it. Use the POI loader and see.
Does Garmins own POI have things like phone numbers? If so, its theoretically possible to manually add it to the list without using the POI loader, and using any extra details included.
Yes, Garmin's own POI does show phone numbers, if you search say for McDonalds and look at the details, it gives you the phone number and address for the place ... so wondering if the same was available in custom POI's
All the POI databases I have found, including from PocketGPS have the details or information column.
I have looked in the POI Loader, but there does not seem to be an option for it.
Hmm. Load a set into the POI loader, install, and then do a search for that category. Pick one, and see if its got any details with it. You never know, it might do.
Otherwise, you will have to find Garmins own POI in the memory, open them up and see how they are configured.
Hi Bart, tried that ... but no details are shown, even though they are in the file .... will have to search for their ones .. any ideas where they are stored?
Nope, sorry. I imagine they are in some odd format as well, so finding them might be difficult.
Could even be compressed into a single file.
Havent got any time to look at the moment, busy doing some other GPS related stuff. Not that Id know what to look for either 😉
