Nokia & Google Maps without GPS

Is it possible to find your (approximate) location in either Google or Nokia maps without a GPS receiver?

I have read that Google Mobile Maps is meant to be able to work out your location based on cell tower location. Also, in my Nokia E51, there is "Settings->General->Positioning->Methods" which allows for both "Bluetooth GPS" and "Network Based".

However, neither Google Maps or Nokia maps can work out my location and just ask me to turn on my bluetooth.

Where am I going wrong?

Yes, you can with google maps.

However, cell positioning is extremely inaccurate.

Generally when I tried it, it was literally miles away.

And in one instance, where a cell tower was down, it must have been picking up from a different one, as it thought I was over 15 miles away.

Im not sure how to activate it in google maps, and Im unsure if nokia maps support it.

Well, on Google's website, they say they support S60.

I have Google Maps on my E51, and the instruction is to press the 0 key to find your location. Although when I do that, nothing happens. So I'm left presuming it doesn't work on my phone.

cell positioning works fine with google maps on my n95 for the first 15 seconds before the gps kicks in. Just press zero. You should install the latest version though. Hopefully all the symbian versions of google maps are the same.
