Alrite troops

As the title states I am trying to sign rotateme from bysamir.fr. I download the zip open it copy the sis file into a location the i go to symbiansigned goto open signed i think. Put my imei in my registered email addy and upload the app. Problem is its telling me i cant sign this app in open signed as the uid is registered to another email address or something like that.

So what the feck can i do, as that site is like rocket science it reminds me of my old school day lol

Any guidance would be appreciated as im about to give up soon

The older version still used an UID from the protected range, which means you can't get it signed with the new Symbian Signed Online.

so in other words i have to donate which is fine?

Bysamir website is abit misleading then as it clearly states its freeware and if you want to you can donate however i decided not to as that specific time and downloaded the app anyways following the quote to get in signed at symbian what i then tried to do to no avail.

If you can sign an app under the open signing icon at ss then it should say so before you download it if you ask me.

I am a novice at this so it can be frustating.

RotateME is indeed freeware, and will be so once it's complete. Samir is merely asking for donations to help him keep development going. This gets you access to the forum and access to the latest beta which can be signed. It also gets you access to all his other apps in development such as Nokmote, ShutUp & ShameMe. All you need to do is make a small donation (enough for a beer !) and you will get access. Just a small token of your appreciation.

It has to be said, RotateMe has long been in development, and judging by version 2.1 b2 is as near as dammit complete, so one has to wonder why it's taken so long for him to get it signed and out there. It's to be expected that certain cynical people will see this as a simple tactic to keep getting money for something he has always promoted as being for free. However, with Symbian's now legendary awkward signing process, it's also not surprising how long it is taking.

Of course, now that the latest version of the N95-8GB formware features ASR as standard, I'm sure we can expect it as such in the next N95 Classic firmware update, whenever that may be. Maybe Samir is just milking it until then, who knows.

Either way, he spent time and effort creating something and I donated a token amount and now have the application, so I'm happy and I hope the beer that he bought with my few made him happy too 😉

Good point

Samir has done wonders to the operating system with these apps, and I to will donate.

I was just saying I could have save myself alot of time and frustation if I knew from the beginning that even if you download the old version you still cannot use that unless you donate.

Just something that might want to be explained to people like me being a novice and all.
