Hi All
My first post and its a problem! (how ironic)
Anyway, i have the N82 on o2. Fone is working ok but i can't receive mms messages, all i get is a txt from o2 saying i have received a media message and to retrieve it online(which is off course totally pointless!).
I've checked all my settings and everything seems correct, contacted o2 and they sent me settings again then said if it doesn't work it'll have to go back to the shop. Internet is working fine on the fone. Not taken it back to the shop yet, just wondering if anyone else has this problem?
Also can someone PM the instructions on how to update firmware manually as NSU won't give me the latest firmware as its not approved by o2.:stupid:
Cheers
Kenny

Have you tried texting the word active to 2020 ? The settings should then be sent to you as an SMS message.
Have you checked the current MMS settings? (Messaging->Settings>Multimedia Settings) You should be using the O2 PostPay MMS access point if on a contract, or O2 PrePay MMS if on PAYG.
Finally, in tools->settings->connection->Packet Data you should have the mobile.o2.co.uk access point defined as the preferred access point.
Hope this helps.
Yep all the settings are correct.
When i try to send an mms to myself it says 'failed' and then it says 'user barred' onscreen! wtf?!

Is your SIM card quite old? It may not be MMS Provisioned...?
The other possibility is your connection has the PAYG username and password on a contract SIM or vice versa.
Suggest you call O2 Customer Support for advice.
Hi
I have had exactly the same problem on O2 / Carphone Warehouse. Everything works, MMS sends, email, internet, but the system will not send me the MMS, it sends me a text giving me a url and a password.
Spoke to CPW, who suggested I have the setting sent again! Told them that I had already tried that (their settings were worse than O2's - O2's work theirs don't). They then inisted that I go through the very long procedure of manually inputting the settings, that didn't work either! They actually failed to send MMS and access the net, so I reset the phone to the original O2 ones.
Then they finally put me on to their technical division, who checked with O2 that and told me that there was a setting error at their end. They would reset my data access, and I would be back up and running correctly in 24 hours, but I would lose data access for 24 hours.
As promised they switched it off.................. but seem to forget to switch it back on. I called them, they now tell me that they will have to switch me back on but for he next three weeks I'll have to pay the data rate - I am on an inclusive rate - but I'll be able to claim it back. This is something to do with switching it back on and that they can only change the billing system once a month.
Frankly they are a shambles. I now have lost all data access, they don't think they can switch it on for 2 -3 days and they know my next bill will include a huge overcharge.
Finally I have no confidence in CPW abilities nor that this will solve the MMS problem.
I'll post more when I get the data back up and the MMS problem is resolved.
that really is a joke! Its their issue so why the hell should you have to go thru claiming it back...Id kick off BIG TIME at that!
Kenny, have you got someone at O2 to confirm that you do actually have the MMS activated on your contract as I know they have had some that supposedly have an access all pass but its not physically been turned on by the service provider.
