Hi all,

Today, I have the pleasure, to you announce that the new officielle firmware 210.34.75 is release now for Europe!!!😊

bye!!!

Hi folks

I am in the UK on O2 and my Nokia Software Updater is still saying it's up to date with version 7.24.0.3

How to I get to later versions?

Cheers

R

thanks for the reply

I have tried using that Nokiatool mentioned elsewhere but it cant connect to the phone. It just reports "Error!"

Any tips?

R

Hi there

Doh, was me being stupid, was running the wrong software from that page.

Worked fine now bang up to date, thanks!

R

As I have just upgraded thought would say my version is 210.41.48.2.
Anyone know if this is significant or just a country thing?

It worked last time I had this problem with O2. Changed back in case it has to go back to O2.

It will work but doesn't that mean you will have asian localisation and languages? Could explain the different version no as well.
I just used the generic Euro1 code.

I don't know, it didn't last time and this time it asked me for language and location on reboot, as it did last time.

It appears my phone has the firmware 210.34.75, unless you use NSS to check it! It also has a date of 10-04-08 and not 12-04-08 according to NSS.
Anybody any ideas why NSS gives a different version and date?

after the upgrade, everthing works fine, except GPS..my E90 got difficulty getting GPS fix..anyone got same problem? also, I wonder if there is anyway I could flash it back to version 7.40.xxx, which works better for me. Thanks..

If you're using assisted GPS, then check the correct access point is selected

Settings -> Positioning -> Positioning Server

GPS should work fine after the firmware upgrade.

I actually noticed yesterday that my GPS was taking a long time to get a fix, even when I had 4 - 5 sats in view it still took aout 5 mins to get a fix whereas my WinMo phones will quite happily get a fix on 3 sats - and they don't have aGPS!

Decided to check my settings but can't find Settings -> Positioning -> Positioning Server

Where is this? It's not under Tools-> Settings

And what positioning server should I be using? Is it my normal web access point?

Thanks

I can see the options under Tools-> Settings -> General -> Positioning

On my E90 (Generic EURO Firmware) I have the following:

Positioning Methods:
Bluetooth GPS (unticked)
Assisted GPS (ticked)
Integrated GPS (ticked)
Network Based (ticked)

Positioning Server:
Access Point - 3
Server Addr - supl.nokia.com

I got my GPS fix problems solved and it is really strange- Hard Reset..Yes...hard reset solved it. I was reading an article here about users having problem using flash after the firmware upgrade and they found a solution by hard reseting their device..so why not I did the same..and it actually works...Just hard rest mine, and i got my first cold GPS fix in less than 30 seconds..:icon14:

?*%# i was happy too early...GPS fixing problem is back..thought hard reset had fixed the bug but it didn't...:con? anybody else has this bug?

i'm having some issues with updating, i connected the phone via USB, it searched for updates and found 210.34.75, it proceeded to download, then install, at which point someone tried to call me. call stopped. it then failed to install the software, some kind of Nokia line module' was reported to have stopped working.
NSU proposed me to disconnect, unplug baterry, and then reconnect.
now it detects my phone, proceeds to install and then states that installation failed and gives the option on phone recovery...

any ideas?
thanks

job done, followed the link that stated do not take out the battery and start again, just press retry, update took 5 minutes, plus the time to put it back in order.
only thing that didn't change was the question as king for purchase to use nokia maps.... the purchase is only for the use of voice guidance and walking. how about if you don't want voice guidance. the bonus i thought of this phone was the addition of gps, and at 800€ i wasn't expecting to have to pay for guidance, when a tom tom can cost 100€ and voice is free....
is there something to do for this?

With all due respect, a tomtom only does what it does, you have a device that can do a lot more besides, that's why it costs more. You could just pay for it. Alternatively you could install tomtom on it which never expires once bought, although as standard tomtom does not allow the use of the internal gps reciever, but there is a small java midlet available free called gpsd which, when used in conjunction with another program whose name i forge, tricks tomtom into using the internal gps. A search on the internet will undoubtedlly point you in the right direction.t

that is indeed true, and the E90 is a good piece of kit. Installing programs and widgets etc. Seems like a plan, but sounds complicated. And now i read about unsigned programs etc. Out of my league i think.
Thanks for the reply
