Upgraded to 210... but lost contacts

I have a backup but PC Suite refuses to restore saying the file is in language en but the phone has no language. I have set English in the Tools->Settings->General->Personalisation.
Any ideas about what I have missed?

Forgot to mention that resyncing with outlook got the contacts back but am interested in why the problem occurs.

I had a similar problem, except that in my case various apps went missing, which was annoying.

More serious was the fact that my entire secure passwords file (Best Safe) was also not backed up, which the manufacturers (Smartphoneware) say is not uncommon, which is why they have included an import/export function. I hadn't used this, as I rather optimistically assumed that everything would be backed up.

Quite why Nokia are unable to create a backup program which actually does what it claims to do is beyond me. The problem is, you won't know what's missing until you need to do a restore, at which point it's too late. Absolutely ridiculous!!

Ian.

i have to agree with you on this one, it's been the same since s60 v3, the only problem i can remember having on s60 v2 was that java apps didn't work after a restore, which isn't as bad. I did notice, however, that the official changelog for the latest software "210" on the e90 states "improved backup/restore" so lets hope it's sorted this nonsense out.
