Java apps CANNOT be removed after firmware upgrade

Hi all,

I have N95 (not the 8GB version) and earlier it has firmware 10.xx. I installed 2 Java applications: GMail and Opera Mini 4.1. Both were installed to the microSD card and ran just fine.

I then decided to upgrade the firmware using Nokia Software Updater. I backed up the phone memory (not MicroSD) using PC Suite and then run the Updater.

Firmware upgrade to version 11.2.009. I assume that all the 3rd party applications installed, include the 2 above, will be wiped out.

However, I found out that both GMail and Opera Mini icon is still under the Application folder. I tried to remove it (press "C"; press Options -> remove) but to no avail. The application is no longer listed under Application Manager.

I noticed that if I removed the microSD card, both icon disappeared. So I have a feeling that the N95 OS looked at some files in the microSD and load those application (which it shouldnt).

I went to the memory card (since it was installed there) and deleted any traces of the application. No go.

Anyone know which particular files I need to delete to make those 2 icons / application?

Firmware upgrade wipes phone date only not card data

format your memory card to get rid of every trace of anything on there if all you have is 2 apps and dont care about losing them
.go to Tools folder you should see memory tool in there
if you cant see it try utilities folder.

Will this delete all the default applications installed by Nokia? I don't know what's in microSD card, but I look at it when connected to my PC and there is an awful lots of files. And I didn't even install other application!

Forgot to ask: I know firmware upgrades wiped out the data on the phone, but it is strange that it still "read" the microSD card and recognise that there was application installed there (GMail and Opera Mini). So there must be some files there that got loaded from microSD

formating memory card will not delete default apps pre installed by nokia on device they are all in phone memory any way not microSD memory
a phone memory format does'nt delete nokia apps either they are part of firmware which cant be deleted

when you upgrade to new firmware only phone memory is wiped not
microSD or built in 8GB external memory is left untouched ny upgrades to phone

Even if you install to the card there are a couple of small files that land up on the phone. In practise the simplest way to erase these is to reinstall the app then remove it again.

Just Format both phone and external/card memory
your phone will be as good as new like it was when u 1st brought it apart from you'll have your upgraded firmware instead what you installed
