Nokia 9300 Data Connection Issue

Hello all,
I was recently given a Nokia 9300 (it ain't a Blackberry, but there are a bunch of apps!) I added the appropriate info for T-Mobile into the Internet Setup area (both GPRS and GSM, I don't know what the difference is). I can connect using the internal web browser, but all Java based applications cannot. I use T-Zones, which requires the use of a HTTP proxy. On my previous phone (Motorola RizrZ3) all Java apps work, and using that phone I could connect my computer to my laptop where I got the whole delicious internet. Now, unfortunately, my Java apps say that they have no access to the internet.

Recap:
Unlocked Nokia 9300, with T-Mobile SIM. Internal Web Browser working via GPRS. Java applications (Opera Mini, Google Maps) unable to establish connection, even though Network Permissions is granted when prompted.

Thanks for your help!

Though you may have granted proper permissions on install you need to check:

Tools -> Control Panel -> Application Manager -> {name of program} -> Details -> Network Permissions

You should have something like:
Internet access: Session
Messaging: One shot
Application auto-invocation: Session
Local connectivity: Session
If these are all okay, then you need to check:

Tools -> Control Panel -> Connections -> Internet setup

You should have one or more Internet access points configured. Mine are: MEdia Net (I have AT&T/Cingular as my provider), IP Passthrough, Blackberry

Since you say your Web applet is working, I can only imagine that somehow the J2ME engine is knackered or that you have the wrong versions of the Java applets (you must have J2ME, and NOT J2SE applications).

I did all you suggested, but still no dice. I did some more research and found that T-Mobile (as I knew) blocks many ports when signed up to T-MobileWeb (not Total Web). From what I can tell, the phone itself listens to the proxy server that is set up, but the Java apps will not.

(T-MobileWeb costs $5.99USD, Total Web costs $29.99USD)

That may be the cas, BUT....since your web browser works, you would expect for Java applications to work as well.

I have AT&T as my service provider and so far, every web-enabled Java application that I've loaded has worked.

ANY T-MOBILE USERS OUT THERE THAT DON'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM?

You may want to see if you can find a T-Mobile User forum and ask there. I've solved many of my problems over the past couple of years by consulting on the AT&T Nokia User Forum website.
