hey guys =) my contract is almost up and i'm confused with choosing my next device.
my options:
-the n95 8gb rogers wireless branded (canada) but with all the rogers certified services and 3g goodness
-the n96 with butt kicking hardware, carrier independent, and truly open to anything
I am not sure the smaller battery of the N96 is enough to get me through the day, so I am a bit hesitant. But if the N96 fits your needs, I'd say go for the newer one. That's usually the wiser choice 😊
easy. the n95-4 8GB has 3G for canada. the n96 does not, it only has UK 3g. n95-4 is the winner IMO. plus it has larger battery, even though we know the n96 has good battery life too.
very good points there guys.
i originally wanted the n96 since it has both high capacity memory built in and expansion options, and it supports WMV which would work well for my media center library which is only WMV. these upgrades of course go along with bigger screen, double ram, easier interface, and better hardware overall
but the release wouldn't be as good as its actual potential so this is when the n95 4 comes in to the equation. i figured, my plan is up, i could probably switch over to 3g from edge, and get all the services offered by the carrier. although, the phone is crippled to work only for rogers, nullifying its open to anything concept, and my plan will be more expensive.
i got a new option you guys can help me with:
i totally forgot that i ordered an 8gb card which i just got in the mail, and i've recently converted all of my media to fit smaller in the card, so i guess this solves my memory issue.
i have survived without premium services til today, unlimited messages, ims, emails, music and video doesn't seem to be neccessary.
and i have survived without 3g
so, the third option is:
the n95-3
it just got an update, bringing it up to par with the rest of its family
it does have north american 3g
and i can take advantage of my 8gb microsd card
plus of course the better battery and ram, etc.
the only compromise really is passing up on the bigger screen.
what do you think?
Go for it. The N95 8gb is soon going to look dated alongside say an N96 with 16gb internal and 32gb card in a few months. Some say 8gb is plenty but I've got 500 on my pc and it's always full.
sorry to bother you but where is the pencil button on the n78 and n96? has it disappear? any substitute button instead?
yes nokia no longer uses the pencil key on their phones, and its a big mistake! i use the pencil key all the time. it was replaced by the # key for copy/paste.

i'm sorry shug... go for which?
i also agree that 8gb won't enough for me.
I meant go for the N95-3 now or wait for the N96 if you're happy with Edge. There will no doubt be an N96-3 somewhere down the line if you're feeling super patient.

i'm still welcoming comments and suggestions...

same key for mark and unmark? what is the silver key on the n96 next to the play button?
