I have a question. When I receive a new SMS, and when I go to the inbox I think it would be logically to find
my newest unread SMS in top of the list in my SMS inbox. But it doesn't.
My new SMS show randomly in my inbox, not in top or bottom. I have tried to sort my SMS in my inbox after date, but still the same problem. If I sort them after date, the message will show randomly in my innbox, and not after date. Strange....
Is this a firmware problem or I missing something. Any other with same problem?

You can sort messages in the inbox?
News to me.
check the time and date. That normally does it particually if you set your phone forward at some point and recieved lots of texts.
Messages can be sorted as follows:-
Messaging > Inbox > Options > Sort by > Date/Sender/Subject/Message type
i also have this problem but not so often it happens. i have another problem - whenever my mob is off and i've got some sms and when i switch on, in the details of the sms i see the time when the sms reached my inbox and not the time it was issued unlike other nokia phones 've used? is it a bug or something like that?
when setting the date i've put myself in the +4 gmt region and the details in sms i've received, there's a difference of 4 hours ex. when i receive a ms at 2000, it shows 0000 in my inbox. also a bug?
So its other people has the same problem as me. Will try the suggestions to delete messages.. But it has to be a firmware related issue though.

Don't feel too bad.... I only found out yesterday that I could zoom in and out of a photograph in Gallery by using the volume button and I've had my N95 8GB since November 2007! :con?
zoom in and out of a photograph in Gallery by using the volume button...... top tip ! :icon14:

Yeah! I didn't know that one either!😮
Damn my volume is busted 😞
OK.... how about this one then.
We all know that one press of the Gallery review button (that's the one between the camera and volume buttons) will display the last Gallery image.
However if you press it twice in succession it will take you to the Gallery carousel view.

...and again, a top tip :top:...keep 'em coming (best one I knew of was a long press of the # key puts phone into silent profile)

Maybe we should start a new thread on this subject as we seem to have hijacked this one.
Then I could mention that holding down the "0" key whilst on the front screen launches the built in web browser.
hi all...
i fixed the problem. When i checked my messages in my inbox in PC suite, it turned up that i must have put a year in wrong in th ephone, sometime, so some messages was received in 2009. (we still in 2008 in Norway).
So of course new messages would turn up in the middle of the list.
Deleted all 2009-messages, and now when i receive a new messages i shows first in the inbox.
thanks all for your effort to help...
Glad to hear that you've got it sorted.
any solution to my problems?

If I understand you correctly you say that SMS Message details shows the time the SMS arrives at your phone and not the time it was sent. I'm afraid that this is standard on the N95 and N95 8GB.
As for your second problem you may like to try the following setting adjustment:-
Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Date and Time > Network operator time (select Auto-update)
Hope this helps. 😊
no way!! 😞
just sent myself a sms @ 1935 and the time shown is 2335!!!

I would guess that you live in one of the following countries then:-
Azerbaijan, Georgia, Mauritius, Oman, Seychelles, United Arab Emirates (UAE),
Just as a test to see if there was a firmware glitch on GMT+4, I reset my phone to UAE time zone and sent myself a text. Lo and behold it showed it arriving at virtually the same time as I sent it.
I am therefore at a loss as to why there should be a difference of 4 hours in your SMS receipt time.
You could either try a hard reset (*#7370#) after first Backing up your phone as this will reset it to factory settings.
or
Conect it via the Nokia Software Updater and do a reinstall, again back up your phone, and then restore everything to your phone except settings which you should do manually.
