Urgent Need Of Help!

just got my nokia n95 today..did a firmware update via nokia pc suite..while updating i noticed that the phone had just turned into a blank white screen i left it there for the past 30 mins and still the same problem.

now when i try trning it on i only get a blank white screen..does not even vibrate when i on it..tried hard reseting it (CALL+3+* while turning on) does not work..any solutions?:frown:

the screen was meant to go blank and then it restarts when update finish's/or near finish you should of just left it carry on until it stopped updating by itself.
sound's like you bricked it by unplugging it

Tend to agree with ccraig, sounds like you may have bricked it. You could try pulling the battery out for a minute then replace it and try the Call+3+* and switching it on. May work.

how do i go unbrickin it?is there a way to flash it or something?:frown::frown::frown:

I think that as you only got it today that you should contact whoever you purchased it from and just say that you want a replacement as the one you have is faulty.

yes i can see wat your trying to point out..

but my question is "if i bring it to a nokia centre, will they be able to help me as well with this problem of mine?

please state if they will or will not help me out at a nokia centre..

Have you tried doing the firmware update again? Worth a try.

I think Nokia service centre will help you failing that.

So long as you haven't changed the product code on the phone, which in some cases seems to invalidate the warranty, and you were using Nokia's own Updater Software I cannot see a problem with them repairing your phone.

erm, how can i do the updater if my pc cant access my phone?when i on my phone all i see is a whote screen that my pc suite cant detect..

there is ways to flash bricked phones but b/c you phone is brand new it is best to take back to where you brought it and make up a excuse & see if they swap it or take to nokia shop they'll reflash under warranty
should cost u nothing too b/c your problem happend under warranty using their official apps/software
Just don't tell them(nokia) you unplugged it before finish.

ok..just need to think up a good excuse..

uhm what happens if i tell them that i unplugged it before finishing?wouldnt they eventually know though?

nokia centre will probably beable to tell that a firmware upgrade did'nt finish ,just say you was upgading it freezed up and would'nt finish ,say you left it for hours and it was just stuck .

What shop did u get it from ?
Because some phone shops just employ salemen who know nothing about the software if its that kind of shop they might just swap it or send it off for you,But you can take to nokia directly yourself under warranty

As it's under warranty I would only take it to a Nokia Reair Centre otherwise you may invalidate your warranty.

I would just tell your operator that you tried switching the phone on & it didn't work, straight out of the box.

They'll courier over a swap next day (at least Vodafone do).

to tell you guys honestly, i cannot bring it to a nokia repair centre because we dont have one here on the island..my phone was purchased back at the phillippines and it would take me quite a while as i cant go back there at the moment..i tried looking everywhere on the island, looking in phone book directories to see if we have an available nokia repair center..but the closest ive gotten looking to if a cellphone repair shop that offers flashing..thats why i consulted you guys first..does flashing require opening the phone?isnt it just usb+pc+phone?im just looking at my only option here as i am far from salvation..

[email protected] wrote:Flashing doesn't require opening the phone as you correctly stated.

ok thanks..but im just wondering why they need for me to leave the phone with them 2-3 days..maybe i should just let them know that i just need it to be flashed..btw,the repair shop also does software updates..does flashing alter anything in the phone though?i mean performance wise?does it invalidate anything?it doesnt right?correct me if im wrong..

Flashing doesn't alter anything as such in the phone. I don't know why it should take them 2-3 days. Having a non Nokia service centre do it would, I believe, invalidate your warranty though.

well then..its best that i punch some sense into them and let them know that flashing does not take 2-3 days..i think i better show them this thread to show evidence of so and so..

flashing revives a bricked phone right?and how exactly is flashing done on a BRICKED phone?:con?

tell me about it..its freakin annoying..well my phone is new so i can still format both as i have nothing stored in either yet..

and how do i do a standard phone and the card built in memory format?cant find it on the phone..

to format phone memory press *#7370# and it will format the phone and restart
oh and also it will askfor code the standard code is 12345 if you have not changed it
to format mass memory go to tools >utilities > Memory > options >format mass memory
