Hi, anyone knows if some of the applications posted here (photoserver, Doris browser, etc) work with spanish' Movistar? I'm having problems with his GPRS, i guess they 're giving GPRS WAP and not GPRS internet, am i right?
Thanks!
Movistar in Spain
Hi - my operator is Movistar, and i've got a lot of apps running (and have tried a lot more), all without problems.I have not used photoserver, but I have tried Doris (I ended up buying Reqwireless's webviewer).
Ring the Nokia service centre (a 902 number) and ask for "datos", they will help you configure an internet access point (yes, you're right). Also, ask them for the correct pop3 settings (they are not the ones you upload from your PC via PC suite)
before you ring them, try these settings on a new access point (punto de acceso):
portador de datos GPRS
nombre punto acceso movistar.es
nombre de usuario movistar
peticion contrasea no
contrasea (leave it as you find it)
autentificacion segura
direccion IP pasarela 0.0.0.0
also, here are my mail settings:
punto acceso en uso (the one you just created)
mi direccion correo (the address you want people to reply to)
servidor correo saliente smtp.movistar.com
enviar mensaje en sgte conexion
enviar copia a si mismo no
incluir firma no
nombre de usario (eg [email protected])
constrasea (tu contrasea)
servidor correo entrante (pop3.yourmailserver.com)
tipo buson de correo pop3
seguridad desactivar
acceso seguro apop desactivar
I have a pop3 mail account...
if it doesn't work, try the nokia help line, they are actually very good!
Salu2 Paul
I made the changes you told me and it's working, i actually can READ MY MAILS!!! Amazing! The photozone doesn't work, though (oh well....) Thank you very very very much for all your help!
I'm using Movistar too, but using a prepaid account in my Nokia 7650.
Paul's post is awesome and it looks like it's working for the guy who asked the question but I just wanted to chime in with this tip. If you have a prepay account, the "nombre punto acceso" is actually "p.movistar.es". The extra p is needed in front of the Access Point.
It took several days of testing things, returning to the shop and phone calls to tech support to garner that info. Hopefully that'll help someone else who comes along after me.
Anyone here in Madrid? We should meet up... I want to test out how well MGS Karting via Bluetooth works. 😉
