I have tried to make UPnP work better in my N82. So, sorry if my questions are very stupid, but I can't just make UPnP work well as I wish. This is also very long post, sorry about it. 😊
Shortly: All what I want is to stream mp3 musics from my computer to phone and view all computer images as a slideshow in n82. Also, searching files over UPnP would be nice feature.
So. I have tried two different UPnP servers, uShare and MediaTomb. Both have some good things. I use uShare in my other computer because MediaTomb is not in Ubuntu's repo (Not in gutsy, which is Ubuntu version in case someone didn't know). In other computer I have tried to use MediaTomb because it is in Hardy Heron's repo (what is also Ubuntu's version...). So as you can see, Orb is not a possibility for me, I don't use windows 😊
So, servers work fine. There is no problem at all about that, but I just wrote that to tell that I have installed uPNP servers and they are working. Now I can see both servers as those should be seen. Fine.
The problem is that when I start first song playing, it loads long. It download the whole file to phone and start playing after that. Nokia N800 just start playing as I wish that N82 would do also. Is that somehow possible? I have read about it and I have understood that it is not, but in those posts I didn't found which firmware version they used. I have newest (20.0.062).
So simple question: Is it possible to start play music directly from UPnP server without waiting that it downloads that song on phone first? And well, it seems that when first song is playing, it downloads the next one, so, well. That is good thing, but if you skip the next one, it takes again long time to download. So can I just "stream it" somehow directly?
And the other question is about viewing images over UPnP. I have shared some folders where are image files. I can see those on N82 as I excepted, but isn't there any "Slideshow" feature?
If I select all those files and try to "view in local machine" (or whatever it is in english language, but I mean that viewing it on mobile phone), I can just choose to copy them? Is there any way to view those files as slideshow without downloading them to N82 first? And is there any "picture viewer" available (free?) what can view pictures over uPNP server directly? And it is somehow possible to add link to uPNP servers to gallery application (boring to go always to searching upnp servers, select the right one, select the folders etc...)?
