Nokia ramps up the N-Gage release schedule?

With the usual "subject to change" caveat, the Official N-Gage Blog has issued a release schedule of games for the next couple of weeks, with five titles due out over the next fourteen days, a far faster release pace than they've previously exhibited. Click on the headline to see it.

Read on in the full article.

The original gen N-Gage had a terrible drought of games at this point in its lifespan, and overall averaged a new game just once every two weeks.

Looks like that is being avoided this time round, though it may be partly thanks to the massive delay of the platform's launch.

I dont think the game droughts are being avoided
it'll be three week since last release by the time next games are out and if they end up being released at the end of the week that'll be 3 1/2 weeks.
And b/c most games can be completed in a day (apart from COTD) they will need to be released more often than this.

Also whats going to happen once these 5 games are released over next few weeks there will hardly be any coming soons in showroom left .so will we end up having to wait months for DEVS to catch up with next batch of games before we'll see new releases, I wonder!

If all those games are released, that will make a total of 16 games since the platform launched in April. It'll work out at over one new game a week, more than twice the average release rate of the old gen N-Gage.

It's not quite console level, but it's a huge improvement over the multi-month gaps that the old N-Gage had.

They've announced a LOT more than are in the n-gage.com showroom.

Check out All About N-Gage's games section to see ALL of the titles announced so far:

And a couple of publishers haven't even announced their games yet so the list is definitely incomplete.

The difference is these games are all completed from 2hours upto 10 hours apart fromCOTD
When games only last a couple of hours 1 game a 1 1/2 week is hardly enough to keep the intrest of people high
Without counting the games anounced for the next 2 weeks and games released with launch of N-gage the release rate is dreadful
Yes i also know theres a lot more games anounced not just the ones in showroom but most them are nowhere near completion
I'm not trying to be horrible about N-gage i buy some of the games but also the mixture of game genres is also a put off for many they need to be catering for all types a RPG would be nice

Cheers for that one krisse, hadn't seen this list before.

Mind you there's only one title that I didn't know about on there that peaks my interest(despite me not liking 3D phone driving games) and that's World Rally Championship, I'm a sucker for rally games😊

I think 10 hours is pretty good for games that cost 10 euros.

The original N-Gage's games cost 50 euros each but I don't think any of them had anything close to 50 hours of gameplay.

Bear in mind these are phone games, that's why they have such low prices. They're meant for people to play for ten or twenty minutes a day on the way to work. They're not meant to be played in multi-hour sessions at home.

It sounds like you'd be happier buying a PSP if you're looking for a more console-like gaming experience.

They did do loads of RPGs on the original N-Gage, and they got good reviews, but I think the problem was that most people don't like playing such in-depth games on phones. The phone games which do best are the kind where you can play in very short bursts, which RPGs tend not to do.

Having said that, I do enjoy playing TibiaME which is an MMORPG that runs on N-Gage-compatible phones.

I do seriously think you'd be happier with a PSP though. I'm not trying to be funny or anything, but it sounds like you would get more of what you're looking for from a console than a phone gaming platform.

N-Gage is NOT a console, people aren't going to buy N-Gage-compatible phones because of the games. Most of the people who do buy games will be looking for quick simple stuff they can play on the train.

Without counting the games anounced for the next 2 weeks and games released with launch of N-gage the release rate is dreadful

Have you ever seen that sketch from Life Of Brian, where they discuss how dreadful the Romans are? 😊

Seriously though, they haven't really launched N-Gage yet because the application isn't built into phones yet. When it happens this autumn, the userbase should jump from the current tens of thousands to many millions.

It's entirely through this embedding which is the reason N-Gage stands a chance of becoming a major gaming platform, because Nokia's phones tend to sell quite well so even people who've never heard of N-Gage would be buying N-Gage-compatible phones.

What we're getting at the moment is really an extended preview for people who can be bothered to go to the trouble of manually installing the application. Most people in the future will only come across N-Gage if it's already installed on their phones when they buy it.

But like I said before, the current release rate is MUCH better than on the original N-Gage, and the games available are also much better. It took Nokia a year before they started releasing games worth buying on the original N-Gage, most of the stuff before then was absolute trash.

World Rally Championship, I'm a sucker for rally games

It's the official WRC licence apparently, though that makes me a little bit nervous as big licence games have a reputation for not being very good.

Incidentally, the original N-Gage's version of Colin Mcrae was absolutely excellent, one of the best phone games ever. It looked and played like the Playstation version.

the ones what last 10 hours was just wishful thinking on my part there is none.
ALL are completed after 2-3 hours just that it takes another 18hours of repeating certain level over and over to get money/points for some of the point pick ups which are more boring than anytghing i've encounterd before especialy blockbreak deluxe NGP and Asphalt .keep repeating same level over and over to to release last few points.

I know there is fun in Mobile games b/c i pretty much enjoy all the games NOKIA Publishing have been involved in.
It's the Java port's what are horrible b/c instead of there NGP add-ons adding more replay value they've actually killed the enjoyment b/c it becomes annoyingly boring earning 100million $$ or 500million points just to get 80 NG points .
They could be a little more imaginative with the NGP instead of forcing people to repeat the game for days on end doing same level thats all

i think i kinda of gave you the wrong impression making you think i'm dissapointed .
Dissapointed in 3rd party java port's ? YES
Dissapointed in Nokia /N-Gage ? NO

i would'nt be better getting a psp lol i have one .
i like N-gage but like most fans i play the game to death on release day then it leaves me nothing to do until next release .
I'm just over eager for next Game release that's all

I'm really looking Forward to buying Golf and Bounce boing voyage.
I usually like pool Games but i need to wait and see if anything as been added by GL apart from graphics before i buy Midnight Pool.
sims2😛et game and DogZ are not the kind of games i like but i'll buy one of them and give it a go before i judge any further.

Oh dear, it's friday and still no new games at all, not even Sims 2. 😞

Well, I suppose this shows we shouldn't rely on dates posted on the official blog, the games will just arrive when they arrive.

There are still technically a few more hours as the N-Gage team run on Californian time, so they might just release something late tonight European time, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I wonder what's keeping them though, the platform was delayed by about half a year so they've had plenty of spare time to tweak these games. It's especially weird for the first party games, because it's not like they have any other platforms to worry about.
