Hi
I just purchased minutes ago the N95 from NewEgg (see link it's a big us based site) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875205101
I don't think it is the US version because it says WLAN, EGPRS, GPRS only. After I clicked Buy i realized that it didn't say 3G.
What are the pro's and con's of the europe vs usa versions (which is the most tweakable and most firmware updates) I'm on t-mobile (usa) and i don't think they have 3G anyway. Is it worth the return before i open it?
Do you think when t-mobile enables 3G will it be their full internet service or will all their internet services (t-zones, WAP) connect through 3G?
Thanks in advance!

You bought a high speed version for the U.S. It will run in 3G on At&T but never T-Mobile, their 3G band will be 1700 Mhz, no manufacturer builds that as of yet. You bought a good phone and because it has the 3g bands for AT&T it will have good resale if you decide to upgrade in six months or year. If you wanted to update firmware update with North American model firmware only. Enjoy your N95.
Thanks.
How could you tell it's the 3G US one? I didn't see it say 3G anywhere.
And is there a difference between the US and Europe firmwares? (i know i have to use us with us and europe with europe but otherwise, any differences?)
😊

In the specs, where it says WCDMA 850/1900, those are the 3G radio bands for AT&T.
As for the difference in firmwares, any updates to the actual phone software would most likely be the same, however for the hardware, say the radios or GPS chip in the phones the firmware updates could be different from Europe to U.S. since the radios are different frequencies. I'm almost certain thats why Nokia wants the product code when you do a firmware update.
P.S. Check out Nokia NSeries site applications and Nokia Beta Labs site for cool free applications for your new phone.
even when tmobile turns 3g on, your n95 won't be compatible. There are no 3g phones for tmobile yet because they will use totally new frequencies for their network.

Wouldn't that be a disaster?
Also i just want to confirm, will i be able to watch flash videos websites like Liveleak with the newest firmware or do i need to install something for it to work?

well in another forum i talk about how this is bad, and others kinda agree, but tmobile didnt have a choice in the matter because there was no available spectrum left. they were already behind all the other carriers. so they had to do something, and the AWS 1700/2100mhz band is what they got. eventually it may get better.
but yes you can watch flash videos as long as the site is flash 8 or higher. but on tmobile GSM/EDGE it will be pretty slow compared to 3G HSDPA like on ATT (what i use currently). in 2 years i might move to tmobile when their 3G coverage is there and the phone selection is good for unlocked phones.
