Hi

Just trying to find the best Sat Nav software for N95 using UK Mpas.
Anyone got any recommendations?

Thanx

After trying a couple of different programs I have found that nokia maps works best on the N95 8GB.. In my opinion

My favourite is Route 66 2008 / V8... think its 69 Euros including P&P from www.66.com

However, there's loads of other quality GPS apps available also 😉

After trying all available (not including free over the air download ones), I have them in this list, most preferred first:

Garmin XT (Stratch that one if you have an 8GB, card only)

Copilot live 7

Navigon

Sygic/Mcguider (stay away until they have issued the update though, problem with postcodes)

Route66

Nokia maps

Theres a few others also, but I wouldnt bother with them.

If you want real maps (OS) rather than limited vectored road maps then try:

http://www.viewranger.co.uk/

They have added a 3rd dimension to the maps allowing your phone to draws 3d panorama views with POIs labeled - very nice.

The application is free, you pay for the area of maps(tiles) you need. A trial with a couple of sample tiles and large scale (low detail) UK map is available to download.

wot no tom tom? 😉

Nope, I feel that the method of having it use the internal GPS is far too clunky t do each time you load it up.

And also, when I used it a while ago, its looking very dated compared to other ones, like copilot.

Having used both Garmin XT and Nokia maps 2.0 in the uk and Denmark there is not much between the two as sat nav systems.

The Garmin does have speed cameras via POI or Garmin online the Nokia doesn't (yet).

Personally I think the Nokia maps show more detail and are better on the eye than the Garmin "cartoon" style maps but I'm getting used to them now.

Nokia maps are quicker to react than Garmin.
Both are decent systems but I've missed a few junctions because the Garmin doesn't react quick enough this hasn't happened with Nokia maps (yet).

Garmin has more settings that can be personalised but most of mine are set to the default but it's good to be able to change things to suit.

Only thing I have against Nokia maps is the pricing if it was the same price for 3 years it would be great but I can also see the advantages of paying for it when you need it.

I'm using the Garmin XT now but would consider Nokia maps if the pricing was better.
