HI,
I have a good knowledge in Java and want to start developing applications written in Java for my P800, can anyone tell me what are the basic requirements to start developing applications? I mean which flavor of Java is needed? which emulator is required? what options do I have?
Please provide me with a detailed explanation...

If you have good knowledge in Java programming you should have found this information easily by your own...
Go to http://www.symbian.com/developer/SDKs.html
There is all the information.
I've downloaded the UIQ SDK after following the link supplied. My question is this:
According to the documentation it is only possible to install the SDK on Windows 2K. My preferred development platform is Linux. Does anyone know if it's possible to use the UIQ SDK with Sun ONE Studio 4 (with the Mobile Edition) on the Linux platform?
Will the P800 emulator run on Linux, or is it Windows only?
The UIQ SDK is not the JAVA development kit but rather the Symbian developer kit. The JAVA tools are here:

Hello, some basic info:
P800 supports PersonalJava and J2ME MIDP 1.0 which are two different Java runtime environments. You can use any development tool for Java for the actual application development. In case of PersonalJava you need the tools that come in the UIQ SDK for preparing SIS install files.
The UIQ SDK also contains some documentation on how PersonalJava applications are best written to run on a UIQ device.
As a starter, download the P800 Java Developer's Guide at:

Hi Gunnar,
Please can you say when JavaPhone will be available for the P800? It only works on the P800 Emulator. It would be great to have it work on the P800 itself.
Thanks & regards,
Malcolm

Hello it was decided to not invest in accomplishing this support on P800.

Hello Gunnar,
you have announced a very ugly news... No hope? Not even for C++ API like the Etel and Etelmm?
