E90 competitor, the Toshiba Portege G910, gets reviewed

Nokia E90 fans might want to note that the latest Smartphones Show, no. 60, includes a hands-on review with the Toshiba Portege G910, gunning for exactly the same target market with a fairly similar form factor. There's also my thoughts on the iPhone 3G and a mini-rant on phone contracts.

Read on in the full article.

Steve, I downloaded this to my E61 and all I got was a black screen with sound. Are you back on H.264?

I don't think so, it's a standard MP4 profile. But I've been having a nightmare keeping audio and video in sync and this was the ONLY way forward - sorry if your device isn't compatible. I did test it on an E90, but the E61's too old, I guess, to keep up. The bitrate is higher than it used to be, it might simply be this and that the device decides it's too high to play?

Next stop is switching to a Mac - I'm trying one this morning at a customer's house etc 8-)

In the meantime, E61 users should watch the show on YouTube via Mobitubia!!!

I forgot about the Mobitubia/YouTube option. Thanks for the quick answer Steve.

IMHO the G910 is hardly a competitor to the E90. The E90, as far as Symbian devices are concerned, is one of the best models. Not so with the G910 as far as Windows Mobile is concerned...

It's mostly the HTC Raphael or the forthcoming X1 that will be directly comparable to the E90, not the G910.

Also note that there're several other ways of playing YouTube; for example, CorePlayer. See my YouTube Bible in the N95 forum here.
