A friend forwarded this link to me: http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/09/tomtom-already-has-iphone-navigation-software-ready-to-roll/
If true, then that explains why tomtom have been so reluctant to release it on other mobile platforms.
Thats a big one up on Nokia, as their Maps software, considering the charges, is way below par.
How reliable is engadget with stuff like this?
It certainly would explain why they hadn't released one for symbian I suppose!
Still, you will have to PAY for TomTom! As using the google maps for satnav would be DIRE! 😛

It's not just Engadget. It was on the Reuters newswire as well, quoting a Tomtom spokesperson

You have to pay for any satnav (excluding the nasty java over the air ones), nokia maps included.
Id happily pay for tomtom.
Ahh! But what I'm saying is that the iPhone as far as I'm aware comes with google maps as its only gps software. Wheras Nokia do have their own, albeit quite awful! 😊
Out of the box the Nokia Maps app isn't that different in functionality than Google Maps. Unless you want to pay for the navigation etc.
According to some sources TomTom may be available at the release of the AppStore on 11th July.
