9210 and GPRS?

8 replies · 2,755 views · Started 06 February 2003

Hi there,

has someone ever accomplished to surf the web/check emails with his/her 9210 and using a GPRS connection?

I am very interested to get this working for mobile usage...

Well, thats it, what I was told from my service Provider O2, too and Nokia tells you that the same way.

BUT:

There is "eInternet Wizard" from PsiNT which gives an option "GPRS access" and this might work with a GPRS enables phone like the 6310i (in my case).

Has someone tested this yet?`
Hope you can help me, O2 is very intersted in this too, if we can make this work... 8)

It should work. I have not tested it myself, but read someone testing it on a Finnish site - connecting with his PC. After a lot of hassle he managed to get it working.

Should work with a GPRS phone too.

I use my 9210i to check my email but it takes a very long time, there's no GPRS on the 9210i which is a great shame, actually its a joke for a phone which is meant to be so advanced not to have it! 😞

Is there anyone out there who has a email account that is easy to open with the 9210i?

also there is no way to connecting it to a new Nokia that supports GPRS and using the infrared connection to get the faster GPRS, you just have be patient with Voda's slow standard service

My Tiscali account only takes a few seconds to open. The log shows a connect time of 17 seconds for:

Call
Log-in
Retrieving one mail header
Log-off

I am using high speed analog connection for this account.

For my work account, I can connect at 38.400 bps using ISDN 1.10 and HSSCD

Michael

FAO bodstrup,

This tiscali email a/c you have can you save about 850kb in size emails?Open them, type in the email address and send asap, how long does this take?

Also do you have the option of text message alerts to your mobile phone everytime you get a email?

Where do you get this email account from? How much does it costs?

This one will only work for phone that is GPRS enabled. Since the N9210 is not GPRS enabled, the reason why it will not work on the communicator. Nokia said that their target market of this phone are mobile businessmen the reason why instead of GPRS, they equipped this phone with HSCSD.

eInternet should allow you to connect your 9210 via a GPRS phone. 9210 -> GPRS phone -> internet, thus you'll be using GPRS with your 9210.

Whether this works well or not, I cannot say but I know it's been done.
