A theme per game - not a bad idea

As part of the promotion for the game, Nokia's N-Gage team has designed a dedicated theme for Snakes Subsonic for any S60 3rd Edition device, to remind you of the game. What a good idea - maybe they'll do one for every other N-Gage game? Mine's the Pro Golf one in the corner...

This theme is absolutely horrible! The icons don't match, the wallpaper is awful and the item select highlights are too transparent.

Not only that, it's 3.7mb when installed!! Even with the theme sounds, that is rediculous.

Another point, what's with the convoluted theme install instructions on the website Nokia? Surely you should be pushing the "double-click the sis file" way of installing and trying to get more people to install PC Suite?

I finally received my free license for beta-testing Mile high pinball on a N95 yesterday. I theme for that would be nice ;^) Ahh, well perhaps I am gonna check out the mile high n-gage tournament tomorrow.

Could be something to do with the incompatibility issues with Windows Vista?

PC Suite won't even recognise my N93 using Vista so I had to go back to installing manually on the phone after transferring as a mass storage device🙄

Ccraig, I think Ikona and the others do want to tell us interesting insider stuff, but a lot of the time they're prevented by their bosses.

Here on AAN and AAS we can say what we like because Nokia don't employ us, and we have had a number of scoops over the years by announcing games and other stuff that Nokia wanted to keep under wraps. Ikona isn't as free to do anything like that.

It's possible...

Really though, I think they ought to be telling people more about installation directly onto the phone. All of the current N-Gage devices have 3.5G and Wi-Fi, so it's perfectly plausible that games, apps and themes could be installed straight onto the phone from a website.

For some reason though the N-Gage support site concentrates entirely on the PC methods for installing things, which are invariably far more complicated.

the way i've been moaning last few day's you would think i don't like N-gage,But i do like.
I'm just irritated that there as been no new game been released for 3 1/2 weeks and they also pulled Pro Series Golf 3 days after anouncing it.
Also no sign of any games this week after they said there would be .
If a game is not released in next 12 hours we wont get 1 this week at all b/c they don't do weekend release's .
Just ignore the people who think they have done release's on weekends on N-gage blog they are mistaken .

It is frustrating, especially as the platform was delayed by about six months so they've had plenty of extra time to get the games ready.

There are 23 games announced but unreleased games, and they'll probably announce a lot more before the end of the year, so that's enough for almost half a year of releases at a rate of one game a week.

One thing that might be a factor is the userbase. At the moment there are probably only a few tens of thousands of people using N-Gage, because most people can't be bothered to go to the trouble of installing the application (and they may not even realise such an application is available for their phone). There's also the point that only a small number of models are officially compatible at the moment.

The real launch of N-Gage would be when the app is embedded in new phones so millions of people see it as soon as they buy their phone, but that doesn't look like happening until the end of the year. Maybe the third party publishers are delaying games until the embedding happens, so their games get as many potential sales as possible?

Good grief, I just looked at the tech specs and you seem to be right. I had one for about half a year and I could have sworn it was 3.5G, but I must have been mixing it up with another model.

It does have Wi-Fi though, and even on 3G though a theme will download in under a minute, with most N-Gage games downloading in a few minutes, so it's still crazy that Nokia talks about the PC-based download methods only.
