pressing 'back' button does not appear to remove the appl from the device memory?

I try to close every app, as soon as I finish using it so that the device does not become memory hungry from its OS/resource utilisation point of view.

The W960i manual says, you can close an application by pressing the 'back button' or 'close' either on the screen or by tapping.
For some reason, I still see the same app that I attempted to close remain in the 'task manager' view, and the only way to ensure they remain closed is by using the 'end' button from the task manager screen. I
suspect such apps remain in the memory forever and I dislike that becuase may be I'm too technical to know the potential dangers of programs that stay in the memory.

I wonder someone has figured out a way to over come this problem, is this just a display issue ?

i asked the very same question when i got my W960i and was told that programs dont close and do remain in memory unless ended from the task manager its just the way UIQ works.

Pretty much what Clive says.

To be fair though, I don't find much of a slowdown with the phone if I'm running several apps at once, and closing down all the apps is a pretty easy function.

Just go into task manager, switch to 'Open' tab, select 'More' and 'End All'.

It may be a pain not to have each app close completely when you exit from it, but it's not the most intrusive thing in the world to have the apps there and ready to work. 😊
