It's true.
Check these pictures.
2 hr car journey (York>Warwick), mounted on the Brodit vent clip. Ok, some sunshine but not lots....... Surely this cannot be normal. Have I got a one-off from a bad batch..? I can't find any other example of an N95 melting like this - does this mean the 8GB is not a viable option for SatNav.....?
I'll see what Nokia have to say about a repair/replacement...

Not familiar with the clip you mentioned. Is it attached to the air condioning vent in the car?
Yeah, so the top half of the phone sticks out - that's the bit that bubbled.
You can remove the cover without breaking the warranty. Check if it's only the outside that's melted. If not, send it in for repair. If it is, replace the cover and find another location for for the device on your next trip 😊
That's not so great a solution, but thank you.
I'll see what Nokia say.
I can't believe it hasn't happened to anyone else before. The vent clip assemby cost 38 so I'd be reluctant to not use it. The car wasn't hot. The sunshine was intermitent. Seems strange.
I hope Nokia don't advise not having the phone in direct sunshine, because their manual says to make sure you have a clear view of the sky!
If you choose to replace the cover the instructions are here:-

and you can obtain a new cover here:-

Would definitely give the vent clip a miss though.
Id give blueunplugged a miss too, since they have been pretending to be other people and spamming forums promoting themselves.
A few month's back i splashed out for some new buttons b/c the chrome as come off and makes my phone look terrible,i got the correct tools for screws too,
Then i unscrewed all the screws apart from TWO when trying to loosen off last but one screw the head of screw snapped off so now i cant get in to change the buttons.
