OK before I start I have wanted this phone for months just like everybody else in the UK, and now it is "close" to being released on the UK networks.
But my friend has just bought the new Palm Tungsten a sexy looking PDA wich has a proven track record and the benefits of the new processor and OS.
Palm Benefits:
Seperate small PDA as a lot of the time I may not want to carry it around
SD Card, cheaper and at present more available
Bigger screen
Fast OS
Fast Apps for OS5
Loads of Apps right now!
Do I wait (I feel I should as I have been holding on for so long now) for the P800 or get the Palm T and a small BT phone (OK bigger cost but will allow me to carry a small phone for when I go out and fall over drunk also it will allow me to use the PDA while on the phone without the need of handsfree of BT headset)
Suggestions?
Cheers
Tony
Certainly a toughie. I've gone for the P800 but can think of plenty of reasons to go for a Tungston + BT Phone combo. Infact, Orange are now doing a package in the UK whereby you get a Tungston, a T68i and MCA-20 camera for 130 on a 30MB GPRS contract which makes it sound even more tempting!
Certainly, at the moment, I would say the overall package wins hands down (price, software, expandability). The only advantage of the P800 at the moment is the compact form factor. It depends if only carying one box is important enough for you to be able to wait for the software support, memory cards etc.
Good luck choosing!
Cheers Bassey 😃
I am going to do my best to try and hold on to see the P800, lets hope the networks get themselves sorted for a release before the end of the month.
Will have to make sure my mate doesnt come around with his Palm T before then as he may push me over the edge.

Tonyoevans,
another option you might want to consider is the Tungsten W. It has been released in Singapore where I live. It is a full Palm with built in phone and GPRS capabilities. I considered this but ended up settling for the P800. My reasons were these:
1. ergonomically the Tungsten W does not work well as a phone as you have to use the headset that comes with it.
2. the Tungsten W does not have multimedia capabilities (MP3 etc) or camera but costs about the same as the P800 (in Singapore that is)
In the end, if you want a better phone, then get a P800. If you want better software support (for now as symbian is till relatively new) then get the Tungsten W. I'm quite happy with my P800 so far.
Regards
EWWWW!!!! The Tungsten W is running a pathetic 33mHz Dragonball CPU!!!! You can't run any of the new Palm apps, or even OS5 on that snail!!!!
Go for the TT and T68i (Or the Nokia 8910i if you want both machines to 'pop-up' hehehehe) if you don't bring your PDA with you all the time. Or go for the P800 (200mHz ARM9 CPU) if you want an all-in-one. 😊 It really depends on what you need. Neither solution is better or worse than the other...it all boils down to YOUR needs. 😊
I read posts in the Esato forum from several posters having problems with their Palm TT bluetooth connection. They say it disconnects after a few minutes of inactivity and you have to re-initiate connection. It was concluded at the end of the topic that the disconnection is or might be a Palm feature to save on battery.
Get a P800.
Well, have been using my P800 for 2 weeks already and I really like it and it's very convinient and suit my living style perfectly. You can surf the net, listern to MP3, watching MP4, playing cool game, setup schedule, making call, send SMS, MMS and ...of cource taking snap shot of your everyday life. For me, it's more than enough.

I have a Palm T/T, SE T68i (now my wife's), and the P800. The P800 is great, but does not have the software availability of the Palm, so I use both. There's very little I need the BT Palm/P800 connection for, so I can't comment on that. The P800 is a great "first generation" try, but still needs to develop further for me to get rid of the Palm.
I really boils down to what you really need. I have been using an Ipaq before I switched to P800. Never looked back. It has all the things i need. MP3, ebook reader, games, contacts, tasks. I hate carrying a separate device. Kinda bulky and drags down my slacks 😊
