Just heard back from Garmin, theres to be a new interface released next month.

An interesting point in there is that it seems there is to be a general search function. Just like in route66.

There is no plan to make the current Garmin mobile XT available to people with mass memory only.
However, Garmin are releasing a product called Garmin mobile (no XT in the name).
Basically, this is another over the air product. And its priced at $9.99 (just over �5) a month, a subscription model. Presumably, you get all the map updates etc for free, unlike Garmin XT.
Im still waiting to hear if the new version will cost existing XT owners.
Here is a news release on the new versions. It doesn't give many details, but it does say you can perform an online google search, and add locations found as favourites, or call them, or just navigate to them right away.

Not sure, you'll have to check with Garmin. They do have a map page which shows coverage on their site.
