OK, I know I have posted a lot here, but stay with me! It's a new phone!
In messages, instead of showing the name of the person the message is from, it shows the number. Now, the number as it appears, is in my contacts folder, so why doesn't it look it up and display the name?
Does anyone else have this problem?
The only time I've had this problem is when I have a duplicate phonebook contact. Check through your phonebook and make sure you have each number only once
yep duplicate entries in the phone book AND also dups on the sim card do this. but they do it for incoming/outgoing calls as well. does this particular contact not display during calls also? if its only happening in the messaging app, then it may be caused by conversations being installed. if you dont have conversations installed, then i dont know. but i HIGHLY recommend using conversations for all your messaging, as it will make your life a whole lot easier; and you wont have this issue with wrong contact number being displayed. get it from nokia beta labs site (google will find it for you). and dont forget the internet services pack install for it to work.
...and lack of country/ region code attached to senders phonenumber.
Should be sent with the message, but my experience is that this vary. Although random apparence of country code is more of a problem when you are recieving calls than it is with messages

Nokia labs doesn't state this would work with N95 8gb which is what I have....
It was duplicate entries, my bro was under ICE Emergency too

it certainly works with the n95 8GB. just download the Feature Pack 1 version. works on all phones. i'm using it on my 8GB now.
oh and if you use conversations, you open up the contacts app and your texts will all be there, in the next tab to the right, each one threaded, in chronological order. so it kills 2 birds with one stone essentially. cause now you can just set your contacts as 1 shortcut, and do all your calling and texting from that same contacts app.
