Somehow Mobipocket released a new version of their Symbian free reader this year and no one mentioned it here.

Beside Messaging, this is the program that I probably use the most.

While spending a lot of time in and around the hospital with a kidney stone over the last couple of weeks, I ended up reading three entire books.

I especially like that I can take down notes and annotations and keep them with the copies of the books for future reference.

I keep forgetting to tell people that the *MAIN* reason I like MobiReader is that it is FREE, but better than that you can download the Mobipocket Creator for your PC for free as well.

It lets you take any text file, html file, or Word document and turn it into a file that can be read on your phone with their reader.

I've put together quite a few books of my own from various sources on the Internet.

***WARNING****

If you were thinking about upgrading to the latest version of the MobiPocket Reader for the 9300/9500....you might not want to.

There are problems with the program losing menu focus when you task-swap to another program and back or close the cover and re-open it.

They also changed the function of the ENTER key and most people on the MobiPocket symbian forum don't like the change.

I've flagged the bugs there, but haven't yet received a response from any Mobi people as to whether they intend to fix it or not. Based on the message threads there, they need to have some "quanta" of complaints before they'll do anything.

So....

Please go there, register and let them know that 9300/9500 users are still interested in their product.

INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH....based on the messages there, it looks like people are having trouble with the E90 version!

I had uninstalled v5.3 on my 9300i and installed 5.2 because of the problems you outlined. The search / find function on MobiReader is very poor also and just seems to hang the application in a large file with v5.3.

Thanks!

I'm still going to push for Mobipocket to get their program fixed properly, though.

FYI...I did receive a response from eReader that they are going to look into fixing the RSVP feature in their reader. I also discovered that eReader installs FreeType as an application to facilitate the larger font sizes that this program supports.
