Hi, about a week ago my phone stopped connecting to my pc (or any pc for that matter) via the usb cable. When I plug it it the phone asks me what service to use but it doesn't matter which I choose as Nokia PC Suite doesn't acknowledge there is a phone there.
I have tried *#7370# - *#7780# and the 3 finger salute but not seem to do anything other than waste my time rebuilding my phone back to how I like it.
I have read through various posts on here already but not been able to find a solution to this and I was hoping to avoid taking it back to the shop.
Can anybody help? Please?
:banghead:
Thanks
hi there have you tryed un installing pc suite and all the nokia connectivity drivers
then restart computer and trying to reinstall all of them again??
it sounds like your phone is fine if it comes up with the usb selection on the screen of the phone it sounds like the pc is having troubles establishing a connection with it which would lead me to believe maybe a driver issue
worth a shot before you take your phone back mate 😊
have you also tryed a differetn usb lead??
few things for you to try 😊
have a good 1 and good luck
I have the same problem, and have tried 3 different operating systems, and the phone doesnt seem to work with any of them. The interesting thing is that my Nokia 5300 connects to all the different OS, PC suite through the same cable seamlessly. So the problem is within the N95 8gb,that fails to identify itself to the computer I guess. I just called Nokia, and they want me to send it in.
Hi buxz777 thanks for the reply, yeah I've tried this on 3 different computers (all running xp) with 3 different usb cables which have all worked in that past. I have removed and re-installed the Nokia PC Suite several times as well as the various methods to reset the phone back to factory settings. I can connect via bluetooth to the 2 laptops I have tried and re-installed PC support for my phone from the help menu of the Nokia PC Suite but still get the same result as before.
Reckon I am just going to have to let o2 take a look and I will put money on them telling me its "water damage" which incidently I ran "water damage" through the babel fish translator and it came back as "generic excuse given by phone manufacturers to justify NOT replacing mobile phones still under warranty.
Cheers
I had a similar sort of problem. Running Windows XP, SP3, Nokia Nseries PC Suite 2.0, Nokia N95 8GB v20. I tried reinstalling PC Suite etc. in the end I went into Administrative Tools on XP then Computer Management > Device Manager > Portable Devices > N95 8GB. Right clicked on N95 8Gb and selected Uninstall. I then connected my phone to the computer and it automatically reinstalled the drivers and all seems fine.
Another way is to select Update Drive, with the phone connected and let it do a search.
Hope this helps.
Unfortunately non of this works either. Ah well gonna have to face it and return the phone. Thanks for the suggestion.
