Brothers In Arms now available on N-Gage

The World War Two action game Brothers In Arms is now available from the N-Gage application's Showroom section. If you're having trouble seeing it, select Options and then Update Now, which should make it appear in the "latest games" section.

Read on in the full article.

This seems to be the first N-Gage release during a weekend. Is Nokia putting on extra staff?

It should also be mentionaed that it after updating, I clicked on available games, and it was right at the bottom of the list for me. Strange considering this is a new game.

Greyscale, it always seems to start out at the bottom of the Available Games list, but it soon moves to the top, and onto Latest Games too.

Incidentally the Update Now function only seems to update the Latest Games list, it doesn't update Available Games. To update that list, you have to do the cache clearing mentioned in the news post.

Technically you don't have to do any updating as the app eventually updates things automatically, the methods described above just speed up these processes by letting you do the update manually.

Great!!!!!!!this is the only game I used to play on s60,except sudoku(I'm not a big Game fan).So now it is on N-gage.

I was not looking forward to this game that much but when you start playing it sucks you in and you can't put it down lol.
one thing about this game i like above all others is there as been more imagination put in to the N-gage point's.
Getting the achievements seem's a Little more challenging than in all the other Games which is great.

One of the games I've been waiting for.
However it seems that it lags both with the sound and the graphics on my N82.

It could be that I'm a little short of RAM with some applications autostarting.
I'll check it out later if that's the issue, if it's only that I'm definitely going to buy it.

@ anyone who has played the game a bit,
How long are the missions? And how is the Demo? Is it like the other Gameloft games?

isnt there ALREADY a s60v3 version of brothers in arms available??
its called brothers in arms 3D. i used to play it a couple of months ago. from the screenshots of the ngage one it looks prtty similar. is is the same thing???

Yup, this pretty much seems to be an extended version of Brothers in Arms 3D. . But that was a 1-2 mb game while this one is 37 mb..I suppose this means better sounds, cutscenes and longer/more missions😊
unfortunately, symbian-guru reported the trial version to be only around 20 seconds long.

There is an S60v3 version, but it's not quite the same thing, the N-Gage version is bigger and has better graphics.. Someone on the Arena Forums has both and has written a comparison:

http://forums.arena.n-gage.com/nokia/board/message?board.id=brothersinarms&thread.id=126

"Oh, and if you're wondering if it is worth buying, one word: YES. Reasons: better ambientation & graphics than the SIS version of BIA, three campaigns in all: Normandie, Tunisia & Ardenes (I hope they're spelt like that in English!), landscape gaming with all the functions used with A, B, OK, Clear and right softkey buttons, ... and I still have to play more, since I've only been able to play for 15 minutes"

Yes, I can confirm this. Gameloft's time-limited demos are appalling, they did this with Block Breaker Deluxe and Midnight Pool as well. I don't know whose bright idea it was to have such pathetic demos, but they're just annoying potential customers. You can't possibly judge the quality of any game in 20 seconds.

However, if you do buy the full version you don't need to install or download anything more, because (as with all N-Gage games) the demo is actually just a locked version of the full game. Buying the full game turns the demo into the full game.

For those who say it is a bit slow, install it onto phone memory and not card. It will make it faster.

It may depend on what kind of memory card they have, some are much faster than others.

Keep getting 'unable to install game (error - 11)' on n95 8gb. Reboot hasn't worked. Will try downloading again and re-installing when home from work. Hope everyone else is bug free as have been waiting for this one 😊

Robg79, do you have the S60v3 version of Brothers In Arms installed?

I've heard some people say that can cause problems with installing the N-Gage version.

now i've had chance to play the game in a non exhausted state,i can say this game is great
Also in showroom i've noticed last couple games have been released in order they are in,
solitare and sudoku was pushged infront of Dirk Dagger so why not just put them to bottom if there's no order and i'm dreaming things up lol
it just all might be coincidence though but watch out DOGZ then WWP will be next if my hunch is correct

Cheers Tzer2 I see the article ur referring to- http://arena.n-gage.com/nokia/board/message?board.id=brothersinarms&thread.id=126 (for anyone else who's having installation problems), but I haven't had the sis version installed for a while. I've tried backing up then removing all non-n-gage Gameloft games on the off chance that would work.. but nada.
Strange.

In the application manager it claims that Brothers in Arms N-gage is installed, yet it only weighs in at 46kb, clearly making it an activation file, or a 'Brothers in Arms' logo or something rather than the game file itself (System Rush clocks in at 11mb here as it should).

Sifting through 'file manager' the game is nowhere to be seen, appearing only as an uninstalled 'ghostly' icon in the games section of the N-gage app. When I try to install it- it has a good crack.. but then fails at the final hurdle with the dreaded words.. (Unable to install- Error 11)

Guess my only options are;
A) Wait til the game file appears on the PC N-gage page then drop it onto my memory card and try to install it that way..
B) Hard reset my phone to eliminate any unseen bugs that might be preventing installation.
C) Chuck my phone through the window and cry as I wanna play!! 😉

Robg79, first of all I'm definitely nothing to do with Ikona. 😊 He gets to do this kind of thing as a full time job!

Second... this is a bit extreme, but maybe if you back up your phone using PC Suite and then replace the firmware? That would at least tell you if the game can work properly on your phone.

If you've previously installed Gameloft S60 games on the same phone there's a chance they might have left something behind which wasn't removed by the uninstall, and is messing N-Gage up.

Incidentally don't use the memory card backup method because you will lose your N-Gage saved games, wheres the PC Suite method apparently preserves the saved games.

The memory card backup method preserved the game saves for me through a firmware update with my N95 8GB:

I used the Memory app to make a backup first.
Then I copied the backup.arc file to a PC.
After that I formatted mass memory.
Next I updated the firmware.
Reinstalled N-Gage.
Copied the backup.arc back to the mass memory.
Restored the backup.
Reinstalled games.
All data was back.
