N95 GPS not working.. (yes, I've searched, tried everything)

Hola, sorry for the topic title, but I was afraid I'm gonna be shouted at :P

So, the basic problem is, that I can't get a lock with the GPS - none, whatsoever. Clear sky, top of (several 😊 ) mountain, waiting for 30 minutes, nothing (there was once one empty '32' bar) - otherwise no bars - 'no connection/no satellite info' message in Settings or in the Maps (and I also tried BiNPDA's faux GPS app originally for use with TomTom, just to check it with a non-Nokia app)

Without any software options, and guided by forum posts here, I tought the GPS antenna was not properly connecting to the PCB. But after inspection, I found no fault in the antenna, which was properly connected with both legs.

So, I begin to feel like running out of options... Anyone has any ideas what could be wrong?

(I've been also suggested that maybe the crystal on the PCB is faulty, and only solution is to replace whole PCB. Just for info: I can't turn on AGPS function, I don't have a data plan/wouldn't add much without built-in anyway. I have no warranty, I purchased the phone used, so GPS never worked in my hands)

why not just turn on A-GPs one time to see if it helps at all. if it does, at least you know the GPS is working. one AGPS use only takes about 5-7kb of data so its not going to break the bank.

Without first pushing the slider down, you may never get at lock whatever the other conditions... Sorry if that was elementary, but you don't mention it.

Assuming GPS still doesn't work after formatting the Internal Memory (*#7370#) then take the handset to a Nokia Care Centre.
The N95 is covered by a 2 year warranty in most of Europe, and therefore yours will most likely still be in warranty (as the N95 was only released 15 months ago).

have you tried google maps? it shows the number of satellites right on the main screen, so you can at least see if it is detecting any satellites at all. also, enable A-GPS just one time to see if it connects. it will only cost you half a dollar at most.

N95-1 has got issue with it GPS, i had one which did not work had that replaced worked ok. A friend's one worked when he 1st got it then it just stopped.....ever since he has tried loads of things but no joy. Lucky my n95 8Gb one works well.

Just set Assisted GPS and Integrated GPS on. Disable the others. My N95 Classic would not lock on at all until I did this. Now it takes seconds.

Assisted GPS is what is makiing the lock so quick. However there may be a small charge from your Network Operator each time you launch a GPS app with A-GPS enabled.
