my n95 is now roughly a year old but has today decided that it doesn't want to vibrate anymore. I've tried all settings, turned the phone off, taken out the battery and cleaned the inside but still no vibration. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I'm guessing it wasn't plugged into the mains whilst you were testing it so you have to assume it's a dead vibrate motor. Easily replaced at a service centre or you can get one on ebay.
no it wasn't plugged in. Can anyone supply a photo of where the motor is. It might be worth giving it a clean if not its a good excuse to get n96 when it finaly comes out. Does anyone know a release date for it yet?

The N96 is almost definatly going to be replaces by something better prob before xmas. I would still hold off 😉
