Scott Foe, producer of Reset Generation, lurks at E3

Nokia isn't at E3 this year, though they are the main sponsor of the upcoming GCDC 2008. However, Scott Foe, the N-Gage producer behind such games as Pocket Kingdom and Reset Generation, was apparently lurking in the bushes ready to pounce on journalists, and you can read about it on portfolio.com. (via Stefan Constantinescu)

Read on in the full article.

Random nugget of info:

Reset Generation is apparently being promoted by the same company that promoted Pocket Kingdom. PK is the game that probably came closest to giving N-Gage a positive image, so let's hope that they manage the same kind of success with Reset Generation.

That's what they're saying, though the date has never appeared in an actual press release AFAIK.

I suppose it ought to be part of the headline though, ought it not? I'll change it right away.

Right, fixed.

I'd still be wary of taking this as an official announcement though, dates can slip, especially if they've never been officially announced.

This is probably the only upcoming game that I'm looking forward to on N-Gage. If it's half as good as the previews have made out, it's a must-buy!

it's a must-buy!

Even better than that, it's free! (...at least on the PC it is.)

This could be like Snakes on the original N-Gage, only much bigger because you don't even need a phone to play Reset Gen.

It was such an amusingly absurd image in the Portfolio article that I used it in the AAN story too. Hope you don't mind... 😊

PK was developed by SEGA (or Published) - i think SEGA should make a come back to N-Gage with a new sonic game like Sonic Rush or maybe an n-gage version of the newly announced Sonic Unleashed game.

Back on track of Reset Generation - its abit random for a 4th August release date however EPIC Games have pulled this move before - they always said "no idea on release blah blah blah" then 2 months (or so) before its out they bang a date for it to be release and then gets released - kind of a good move coz you get ppl wanting the game (by lookin at the previews) then next thing you know your their playing it LOL - theirs nothing worse than waiting to play a game your really interested in (MGS4 anyone - took em long enough).

oh btw Hi Scott Foe =P

Tzer2 - Not a problem at all! I am still amused by the way my N95 8GB erupted: "Lurker!" I guess nearly a million people read portfolio.

Emo185 - Hi right back at you!

Emo, Sega did the original Japanese PK game but apparently Scott Foe and Nokia altered it a bit for the Western market. It was Foe & Co that added the "leetspeak" for example.

Sega still own the rights to PK of course which is probably why there's no sequel on the new N-Gage.

That's not the case, Tzer2: Production of PK began at Sega, and when we went to Nokia, PK became a joint effort, but I remained producer - a lot of the development was done in the Nokia San Francisco offices. (I think PK was the only N-Gage game where any internal development took place.) PK was published by Nokia; the intellectual property rights are held by SEGA.

Aha, interesting...

I got the impression from official webchats that the game was originally published by Sega on phones in Japan under a different name (I can't remember it, something like "towers" or something), and Nokia then bought the rights to distribute PK elsewhere. That's not the complete story then?

Also interesting to hear the internal dev thing, does Nokia do absolutely no internal development then? First Party is entirely Nokia producers overseeing outside dev teams?

You should put that on a T-shirt. 😊

Hi pocket gamer report that web based version will go live Friday for a certain site's premium member's before being launched for free next week for non subscribed user's .
I think this is maybe to test the software with a large amount of user's before the real launch but i am maybe wrong lol
Apparently they are now also reporting nokia as saying full release will be August 4th .
so i think we can assume the date is maybe true.

Cheers ccraig, I've newsposted it. And I totally agree that this could be Nokia trying to test it before the full launch happens, so if something does go wrong they would have a chance to fix it before the game reaches a wider audience.
