I know theres lots of other posts on how to do this, dont worry, its not one of those threads :P

Basically, it says all over the place that i cannoy 'DOWNGRADE' firmware. The ting is, i thing nokia are going to replace my phone, so i want to put the o2 product code back on it, and install whatever their latest firmware is. Can i do this? at the moment it is unbranded (obviously) on the latest firmware.

i have an n95 btw, not an 8gb

Yes, of course. But the latest O2 firmware must to be same version or newest than the firmware loaded at the moment on your mobile.

They will still be able to tell that you tampered with the product code, regardless of what FW you put on. If you change the Product Code to the O2 one, chances are their FW will be an older version than the one you have and you won't be able to change it anyway.

you should be fine to change the product code back then run NSU. It'll give you the option to re-install your firmware which will then be the latest O2 one available.

Sorry but that's not the case.

After changing back to the original (O2) code, NSU will only allow the option of re-installing FW if O2's latest firmware is the same (or higher) than what's already in the handset.

Usually O2 is at least one FW version behind Nokia Generic FW, in which case NSU will tell you "Your firmware is already up to date" and not offer any reinstall option.

just to clear this up o2 have upgraded their firmware to v21 allready so if you change product code back to o2 code then install firmware it will say you have latest blah blah blah do you wish to reinstall say yes and you should get the o2 branded firmware back on your phone

as said nokia will still be able to tell and if youve done this your warranty will be void

hope this helps mate
