Can you adjust the Calendar alarm?

You know, I had this problem with my old 6236i and I figured it was just a fluke messup on Nokia's part that the Calendar alarm rang until you physically stopped it.

On every other non-Nokia phone I've owned you have control over the Calendar alarm and it always defaulted to the most logical method, like SMS, which is, SOUND/BEEP once and leave it up on the screen. That way you get notified if you are around via sound and/or vibrate and it's up on the screen for you to see later if you aren't there.

Now on my brand new 6120c, several phone generations and hundreds of dollars later the DAMNED Calendar alarm still rings/vibrates until you push Stop or Snooze!! Hello!? McFly? Does anyone actually like the way this works? If you aren't around, your phone just buzzes and screams, draining your battery and annoying anyone else that happens to be around the phone. Why would anyone design something this way and worse, why would this design remain for years in a phone OS? Anyone paying attention there at Nokia?

So boo/hiss Nokia for continuing to leave functionality like this, but hopefully on a fancy S60 phone there's a workaround to fix the Calendar alarm to work like an SMS alarm? Anyone?

Um, its supposed to be like that as its an alarm, set to get you out of bed.

However, if you want to change the alarm tone, go into the alarm - settings - and its under clock alarm tone.

Edit: they all seem to carry on repeating...

Let's say I set a calendar event to remind me to go to a meeting.
I do this in Outlook and then sync it to my phone.

When the meeting time comes...

* Outlook will pop up a reminder box, play a SINGLE sound to get my attention if I'm in the vicinity and leave the box up so it's the first thing I see if I'm not around and return later.

* Non-S60 phone will pop up a reminder on the main screen, play a SINGLE sound to get my attention if I'm in the vicinity and leave the box up so it's the first thing I see if I'm not around and return later.

* S60 phone will pop up a reminder on the main screen and buzz and/or vibrate until a button is pushed on the phone draining the battery and annoying everyone in the vicinity of the phone.

I wonder if the Nokia designers considered this. If I'm around the phone, then a single beep is enough to get my attention and the pop up on the screen ensures it next time I look at my phone. If I'm not around the phone what possible good does it do to run the alarm until the battery is dead or one of my co-workers stomps on the phone until its broken into little pieces?

Brain dead design.

I've been searching desperately for a way to do this on my new E71 - although I've not yet found a solution I'm so glad I'm not the only one who finds this behaviour annoying and unusable. Even my "dumb" K750 didn't do this!

Has there been any solutions to this by the way?
