We haven't had any confirmation of this from anyone, but mobile gaming site Pocket Gamer is reporting that the PC version of Reset Generation will be available this Friday on the PC download site FilePlanet. The report goes on to say that at first it will only be available to FilePlanet subscribers, then it will open up to non-subscribers next week, and then the full official launch including the N-Gage version would be on the 4th of August. (Thanks to ccraig for letting us know)
Read on in the full article.
I agree with ccraig about this, it's possibly Nokia trying to test their online infrastructure and see how it copes with smaller numbers before the full launch.
They're likely to get a lot more players than usual due to the game being free and on the PC, and this is also the first time anyone has done a cross-platform PC-mobile online game with a shared game world.
its amusing to see that it originally started off as an N-Gage game to become cross-platform (suppose its good to attract more gamers) but then it gets released onto PC first and even then to subscribers - seems abit farfetched and interesting
but i kind of feel envious.... people who have hardly ever heard of it will get it first lol.

I think that's the point of this game, to get people interested in N-Gage who would never normally try it.
On the original gen Nokia's PR people managed to get a lot of new N-Gagers with Pocket Kingdom by sending out free QDs and copies of the game, but the effect of Reset Generation could be even greater because the game is free anyway and you don't even need a phone to play it.
It's only a single player mode to give people a taste of the game so alot will still be left for the launch day next month.
nokia are taking no chances and kind of using them as guinea pigs to try it out and at the same time using the launch of this single player mode to create a lot of intrest for when the n-gage version is released and the online multiplayer servers go live in august.
It's a great stratedgy on nokia's part
but at the same time i sympathise with n-gage user's who have waited forever for this and now feel a bit let down not being able to get involved on friday unless they sign up to a subscription and signing up just to play it will feel like you've paid twice if you buy n-gage version too.
I dont mind waiting and i think this is going to be great for reset gen & N-gage and multiply the amount of intrest and player's for the Full launch day.
To be honest though, I don't think many people will get a Fileplanet membership just to get the one-player version of Reset Gen a week early. This is probably meant more for people who are members of Fileplanet anyway.
Hey hey, cheers for the link! I got the confirmation direct from Nokia, or at least the agency handling the Reset Generation launch campaign. So that's the source. I for one can't wait to have a go, although I'm not planning to sign up for a paid subscription to FilePlanet just to get a few days head start..
So that's the source.
Yeah, I heard later from one of our other writers he'd got the same mail. It's odd that Fileplanet and Nokia haven't said anything about this in public though! 😊
I don't think the idea of this is to encourage Fileplanet membership, but rather to introduce Reset Generation to game enthusiasts and so help spread the word about it in time for the launch.
The PR company handling RG is the same one that handled promotion of Pocket Kingdom on the original N-Gage, and they did a splendid job with a very similar strategy, setting up a pre-launch media tournament before the game went live to the public.
They were rather limited with PK by having to physically send out N-Gage QDs to every reviewer they wanted to reach. This time round it will be enough to just send out the URL of the website, so they may get even more interest from the media.
Still no sign of it on Fileplanet...
oh, I was able to find out a link to the reset generation just by googling that you can play with it, without even being subscriber of fileplanet, at
