i'm using the infrared port to connect my phone to my laptop since my laptop doesn't have a DB-9F serial port (the communicator has a connecting cable that connects to this serial port).
I'm tired of getting disconnected whenever I copy large files (800KB or more) to my phone (especially since I transfer my favorite songs to my phone). So I'm going to buy either a MMC Reader/Writer (Faster Read at 12MB per sec) or a DB-9F to USB converter so I can plug my phone to my Laptop cablewise(with this I can synchronize, backup... etc... my phone).
I don't know which one to buy... so I'll ask my friendly AAS community...
which do you think is the better buy? MMC Reader costs US $36 and the converter costs US $30.
Thanks, I'll go to the store 2 days from now... today's 12:30 AM sunday morning here in Manila, I'll buy either Monday afternoon or tuesday afternoon...
Thanks 😉
I recommend the MMC-Reader as its much faster and saver

Yeah, I would recommend you to get a usb mmc reader as this transfers data over 1000's times faster than the crappy infraed and that rubbish data cable, I use it all the time, excellant usb is! 😃 😃
I prefer a card reader as well, but it also depends on your wallet. I don't know what a converter costs but a card reader [here in holland ] goes for around 35 - 50 euro.
A multi-standard card reader is quite handy, if one has also Compact Flash cards from a digicam. But it's true that they are pretty expensive, at least here in Europe.
I bought the MMC reader!!! its great, I can organize my files more efficiently now... 😃
It cost me US $35 though, I think its 35 Euros (if conversion rate is 1:1) also... but im not complaning, Im simply paying for the time I'm saving. transferring files is a breeze now... 8)
I now have 30 songs in my phone... 😉
Sorry guys...could you please explain to me what an mmc reader is? 😮ops:
MMC Reader/Writer can be connected to your PC via USB... with this you can efficiently copy to/from your MMC... faster transfer also compared to IR connection or the data cable given by nokia... I was able to copy my 128mb MMC (it was 80% full) to my PC in less than 5mins...
also the MMC reader is small so you can carry it anywhere with you... let's say you're at a friend's place and he got a cool windows xp theme or something, you can also copy the theme to your MMC without installing PC suite to his computer so long as he has a USB port. My phone now has an added use... great huh? 😃
Question!
What brand Card reader/Writer did u get?
Wer u got it?
How mch?
Is it a multi card reader?
Does it have an installer CD invoved or is it plug & Play?
So far ive been asking the same question, but the obvious choice is the USB port ver! Since it can support multiple formats; MMC/ SD/ SM/ CF/ Mem stick/ & Microdrive !
Nice move, enjoy! 😉
PQI multicard reader
plug n play for windows xp but cd included for those with 'lower' windows.
P 1,500.00 or $30 (converted) Greenhills (2nd floor virramall)
look around, I went there closing time already so there might be a better buy than the one i got. it's a good buy though, I forgot the store but it's near ABC computer. I misplaced the receipt somewhere, hehehe. 😃
