backup and restoring data

Hi,

I back up my data on my N95 and updated the firmware. When I tried to do a restore the data back. It always got stuck at 57% completed, even if I leave it overnight for the transfers. I have over hundreds of messages and pics.

Any ways to restore the data beside the normal pc suits, I know where backup file in the PC?

Greatly appreciate any advices.

NEVER EVER restore a backup after a Firmware upgrade.

It causes sooo many problems... if you do a search on the subject you will find dozens of threads about the subject.

yeah, sadly thats pretty true... backups after fw upgrades can be a nightmare. Mass messages and images are normally the cause too

Hi Guyz,

In the meanwhile instead of trying to restore all the applications at a time, you can restore each application at a time ( though time consuming) contacts alone, then calenders,,, messages etc, will some how solve your issue (Hope so) .....:icon14:

yeah, that method should hopefully allow you to keep a chunk of the sms etc and get rid of the one(s) causing the probs.

If you had the phone set to store messages and pictures on the memory card then this wouldn't be an issue, as these would not need to be restored and would stull be on the MC after update. You should remove the MC during update and may have to set the phone again afterwards to use the MC as the default store for both messages and pictures.
