XP PCSuite connectivity (and a bit of Bluetooth)

Hi All

I read various posts re XP connectivity and the 7650, and thought "Well I'd be OK, as the XP Home, SP1 is up to date, so it will be all OK." 8)

Oh no.
I was using PC Suite at work (Win 2000) with a serial IR cable - no problems. The Mitsumi Bluetooth seemed all OK, and phone bonded with the PC. (Dosn't save settings, so have to re-bond PC & Phone after a re-boot of the PC - very poor)

I installed PC suite, and XP (Home edition) was not happy. Kept getting the Switch / Retry windows box, as an application (unamed) was hanging. On pressing switch, the start menu opened, indicating it was a windows shell explorer problem. (I think). 😞

Oh, and PC Suite did not see the bluetooth adaptor.... Double clicking on MRouter icon opens the window, showing NO com ports, and the app freezes.

Tried to re-install from the Nokia website - and was told it's the same version. Tried to uninstall, and windows started by attempting a re-boot, and then would not re-load (hung 6 hours on loading settings). Have managed to get to safe mode and uninstall both.

Re-installed PC Suite only, same Busy/Retry box, and the start menu opening all by itself. I have had to remove the PC Suite, and am looking for any other Outlook sync application that supports the 7650, or an idea when Nokia will release software that supports XP - The website does NOT list it as a valid OS, but I know some people have had no problems, and others have...... :robot:

Any comments / suggestions / help ?

The Mitsumi bluetooth adapter does not work with PC Suite. Mitsumi have admitted it themselves:

To the best of my knowledge, nobody here has managed to get the two working together. I tried for months. I read dozens of threads here with possible fixes, but nothing worked. I've tried different versions of Windows, I've tried different drivers, I've tried everything else I can think of - nothing worked.

There's no sign of Nokia producing a new version of PC Suite either, and they're not likely to bother given that the 3650 has now arrived on the market.
