Hi, my standard N95 plum is beginning to look very scratched and tired, so looking for a full replacement.
I have seen these BLACK ones on eBay, that claim to be genuine, and do look it, but im still not sure....

what does everyone think about these?? Has an N95 been released in black?? Anyone had any experience with these or some pictures??
Failing that im gonna order a new genuine housing - does this one look good??

Cheers for any help guys!
I bought it from a seller in Hong Kong on eBay for appx. $20.
The black housing looks pretty cool and the quality seems to be very good. The back feels like rubber/leather like the original and the front is metal. All Nokia/N95 prints are like the original.
All seems to fit just as well as the original housing. I chose not to replace the lower part of the slider (it requires a bit too much messing around with the insides of the phone. And also I chose to leave the bottom part (usb, power) since it holds the GPS receiver and cannot easily be moved to the new black housing.
Although it leaves a few blank parts it still looks well cool with the black cover surrounding it. And it is a fairly easy operation to change the housing (if you leave out the parts I mentioned above). You might want to take a look in the official repair manual first though.
You'll need both a T5 and T6 screwdriver (and preferably a Nokia disassembly plastic tool) to do the job.
let me give you guys a tip if you plan to change housing colour. NEVER change the lower base of the housing ( the plastic bit where charger and USB goes into)
This is also where the GPS antana is, once removed u will never get signal again.
good luck.
@nennyrules you may want to check out my blog post on a succesful switch from plum to black: http://blog.uhuru.de/2008/02/25/black-is-beautiful/
Changing the complete (!) cover requires the removal of a small magnet below the display that triggers the sensor (opened/closed slider) and also the mentioned GPS antenna which is glued to the lower plastic cover. I managed to carefully remove it though and stick it into the new one.
Next time I'd just buy a cheap cover and paint the rest in black colour. Black keypad isnt also that great - quickly wears off etc.
hth!
