Got a free upgrade in early September & Orange are listing the E71 as coming soon so it should be available by then.
Got an HTC Tytn II (windows 6.1 now) & think it is great but big. Was going to go for the new HTC Touch Diamond but the reviews are full of problems.
I have had a Nokia E61 & was impressed but thought it too big but every review I have read of the E71 tells me that this thing is the business.
The best reviews, however, are from informed users so what do you think? Should I leave windows & touchscreen to go back to Symbian & no touchscreen?
What will I gain & what, if anthing, will I lose?
the Nokia E71 is the best phone I ever had!!
Even better than my N95...
If you like blackberry phones like the BB Curve, you should like the E71.
E71 has a smaller screen compared to the E61... but the E71 feels more solid with the all metal case...
Before this E71, I got (in order) a Qtek S200 (windows mobile 5), Nokia N73, SE K850i and a Nokia N95... and I don't want to go back!!!!
If you don't need specific programs that only run on Windows Mobile, don't chose this platform... most of the time, Symbian S60 is more stable... just for that, it's a good reason to go with Symbian.
If you want a real phone (not a toy like the iPhone), go get the Nokia E71... you will really like it!!!

I would strongly suggest that if you want a touch screen *and* you want Symbian over Apple, you wait for the Nokia Tube. It may be a bit of a wait, but from what you say, it might meet all your dreams. Christmas maybe?
Personally, I think the E66 is a better option than E71 at present as the QWERTY keypad of the latter, though brilliantly functional as the keys 'stick up' and are easy to press (over the E61/i), if you have 'bigger' digits, it still doesn't quite 'get there'. Of course, it's all personal preference, but given that I have an E90 and a BlueTooth keyboard *and* in reality I have assessed how often I'm actually away from a computer in my life, the E66 is a much better option. I think it's a brilliant compromise.
Just my tuppence ha'penny of course.
