6210 Navigator & tomtom

Hi Folks
I have currently got the new 6210 with intergrated GPS. Im not a big fan of the SatNav app it comes with and am trying to get tomtom 6.02 symbian addition on there.

I know people have had success with the N95 and an application called ........ which emulates a bluetooth device (as tomtom only can see bluetooth GPS recivers in its mobile version) but I cant seem to get this working on the 6210 all be it being the same symbian vers etc. I have installed both the and the application but tomtom still cant see the 6210's emulated GPS reciver? any ideas

Unfortunatly, since its a cracked copy the discussion is not allowed on these forums.

But I will say that the 6210 Runs FP2, which while supposed to be compatible with S60 V3 FP1 but simply isnt for a lot of programs.

Thanks for the reply

I do have a ledgit copy of tomtom on my phone....however are you saying the one that works in the N95 system has to be a cracked version?

What is the FP1 and FP2 are they like service packs for symabian OS?

I was thinking about writing a GPS blue tooth emulator as the one I have managed to get doesnt work....

The specific version that needs to be installed for the BT emulation is also hacked to work with any map, and bypass the authentication.

Feature packs are kind of like service packs, but not installable or removable. They contain slight improvements.

I have encountered a lot of programs not working with FP2, Garmin being the best example.

thanks bartman....it seems ive hit a stump then on this one. The only way I can think of getting this working would be with a BT/GPS emulator thats compatable with FP2....the N95 one just doesnt seem to work.

Has anyone got any ideas how I could approach this issue. If anyone has got or know of a GPS Bluetooth emulator alternative to that of the bt.sisx one I woul be most gratefull.

Nope, as far as I know that was the only one. And it was designed specifically for tomtom, so I dont think its just as easy as having an emulator.

IS there a way of rolling back my s60 version 3 FP2 to FP1 do you think, Im sure it would work using that version?

I did think of trying hte latest version of route 66 (version 8) Im sure that works fine with the Internal GPS device as I had a play with it the other day.......

No, not possible. Its built into the firmware, and as such you cannot do it. Think of it as getting a new copy of XP, one of the ones with SP2 included. Impossible to seperate.

Before buying anymore software, Id wait for a while.

Garmin doesnt work at all, and Mcguider has the voice instructions cut off.

So wait until some of these issues are fixed, otherwise your wasting money.

FP2 has some maturing to do, and its bit of a catchup scenario for the makers of third party software.

Do you hate nokia maps that much then? You do have 6 months worth on your 6210!

I've been working with 6210 navigator for the past year and now finally purchased one of my own as it was released. Sure there are some oddities in the way one uses Nokia Maps but that is only due to that other applications do the same things differently... After you "re-learn" how to do things with Maps you are better off IMO. This is mainly due to the integration of other services on the phone to gps/maps. On the other side there is of course the cost aspect when you need voice instructions etc.

But for me personally this is the phone I've been waiting. Just the right amount of features that I need and the size has been kept tolerable.

Damn, I sound like freaking FanBoy 😮

fair enough, but I would still prefer to run TOMTOM on it rather than the Nokia maps that come with it........Im still in the hunt for a solution. I might even by a bluetooth GPS reciever which defeats the object if buying a phone with internal GPS. The N95 bluetooth emulator doesnt work on the 6210 Nav which Iam assuming is to do with an incompatability with the Symbain s60 v3 FP 2 version that it houses. Unless a version crops up for this version then that seems the only option. I would try and have a go at writing my own but I wouldnt Know where to start.
