hi, what's the root cause of this? i have a N95-2 and it's not practical to wipe out every time this happens to my phone. it would have been ok if it's removable (memory card). I have an N95-8GB.
here's the scenario: upon startup, a message will show, it says "installing" and then this message will appear "unable to activate data transfer mode...blah blah".
some says it's because of the custom font installed, but the problem is, I can't delete it because it's used by the system. is there anyway I can force delete it?

Try re-installing the font, but this time choose Internal Memory instead of Mass Memory.
If any apps/fonts are installed in Mass Memory, they may be in use when you try to enable Data Transfer mode.
In this case you either need to disable the app/font, or uninstall it from mass memory. (The same applies for N95-1 with a Memory Card)
Finally configured the fonts, but problem still persists. I think it has to do with some applications installed. BUMMER! So the process is like repeated again and again Uninstall->Restart, until that notification upon booting up disappears. FYI, when the phone boots, it shows a message "Installing" before the warning "unable to activate data transfer mode blah blah".
