Software disappointment - any suggestions?

I am deeply disappointed in the software on and available for the E90.
How can something that purports to be a business phone have such awful Office programs? Quick Office that comes with it will not work with files saved in MS formats by Open Office. Mobisystems Office Suite can but can still be temperamental and refuses to open one large spreadsheet that opens with ease on my WM5 machine. Then there's the lamentable attempt at synchronisation in the awful Nokia PC Suite. I have tried to use Briefcase and sometimes it's worked but several times I have lost data when instead of synchronising and replacing the older file with the newer it's stubbornly insisted in syncing in only one direction and replaced my new file with the older.

My old 3250 can open .doc,.xls,.txt,.ptt and many many more.
It also synchorize without looseing data.
i agree synchorizing in WM is easier since the PC use windows too but E90 can handle the Office documents just like PC.
Upgrade your Quick Office if u dont like what u have in the built-in. u can do it via the phone (Communicator sorry).
and dont be worry.....i think u miss something u will find soon.

Is QuickOffice 5.0 worth paying for? I've seen that I can upgrade to it, just wondering whether everyone thinks it's worth the 36UKP...

Of course, the answer is that it depends how much use you're going to get out of it and how valuable 36 is to you!

For me, it's a no. The stuff I need to do with documents that rely on editing to that extent, can wait until I get to a desktop computer. If, however, you're jetting around the globe and are attempting to travel light with no laptop or are going places where you couldn't recharge it anyway or 36 doesn't mean much to you for occassional use and you don't change your device too often, then I guess the answer could be different.

Each to their own...

Quick Office that comes with it will not work with files saved in MS formats by Open Office

I've just found that a pretty simple spreadsheet saved in OpenOffice 2.4.1 as "Microsoft Office 97/2000/XP" .xls format will open fine in Quickoffice version 4.1.27.5 on my E90 (firmware 210.34.75)

I haven't tried any other office file formats but this one seems to work for me. As I was only going to be keeping a pretty straightforward accounts spreadsheet up-to-date, looks like the bundled software is enough for me!

Be careful. It's true you can open files in QuickOffice and even edit them but try it with a spreadsheet, save it and then transfer it back to your PC and open it again in Open Office and see if what you have edited on the E90 shows.
OfficeSuite 4 does a better job.
But I wish there were a setting that would make OfficeSuite the default program to open Office .doc and .xls files. If there is I can't find it. Please, if anyone knows how to do this, please say so.

Warning:
The .xls i create and saved on Office suite didnt work on Quick Office...why???...Quick office say its corrupt while it works flawlessly on PC.
