Bricked?

2 replies · 2,549 views · Started 12 August 2008

Hi Guys,
Hope someone can help....

Using the Nokia software updater to reinstall the firmware in my N73, however I lost internet connection halfway through the install, and now my phone seems to be bricked.

On trying to use the NSU to reflash it, it seems to find the phone ok, despite not being powered on, as it shows the model and firmware. however a few minutes after clicking reinstall it keeps telling me it has lost connection with the phone and to remove the battery etc which I have done countless times. and won't let me continue.

Is there any tricks anyone knows about?

I've also tried the green,3 star trick to no avail.

Any help would be most apricated.

Thanks

Phil

Hi pdunn467,

What you can do is uninstall Nokia Software Updater from your PC. Then install nokia software updater from Nokia's site and then take backup of your phone all the details (in this discussion forum, users are facing issue in restoring the contents after firmware update, So beware of this too :icon4😊 Once your phone data are safe, try to check for the updates available if any for your phone, if yes, go and update firmware of your phone .... Best of Luck 😊 Once again be careful about your phone data.... I donno which PC suite version you are using now :con? Depending on the PC suite, you can backup the contents etc.,

You can use Nokia PC Suite 7.0.7.0 so that you can import/export your contacts from Nokia Communication Centre and you can send messages from PC and edit contacts etc... For further details check the following

Install latest PC Suite 7.0.7.0 from Nokia.com/pcsuite site or even you can install NSeries PC Suite 2.0.262.0 or Nokia OVI PC Suite on your pc. Each pc suite has its own pros and cons. If you want to use PC for sending sms and editing text mssges, stick with Nokia PC Suite 7.0.7.0 or you can opt for other two PC Suites like NSeries and Nokia OVI Suite. But as of now these two PC Suites will not have sms sending and contacts editing option. If you still want to download

Nokia PC Suite 7.0.7.0 :
www.nokia.com/pcsuite

Nokia NSeries PC Suite 2.0.262.0 :
http://www.nseries.com/index.html#l=...suite,download

Nokia OVI Suite 1.0 :
http://www.ovi.com/ovi/app/ovi/web/download

Being proud owner of Nokia N 73, you can use any of the above Nokia PC Suites as per your conveience. But as i said earlier, each pc suites has its own pros and cons

Thanks for the reply, however I have a backup of the data.

I cannot currently power on my phone, because the software update failed.

Now when I try to restore the phone with NSU it recognises the model and the version of firmware needed, starts the process, tells me it will take about 15 minutes, waits for a couple of minutes then tells me it has lost connection with the phone.

I follow the instructions given to take out the battery, then put in the battery and charger and press power on, but the same thing happens again after a few minutes.

I've tried different computers and different USB cables.

Is my phone dead?
Really hoping not.

Thanks for helping

Phil
