PC Suite Issues!!

4 replies · 2,948 views · Started 12 August 2008

Hi,

My PC Suite on Vista was working just fine for a while and for no apparent reason I now cannot connect to my phone using bluetooth or cable. I've uninstalled the software and reinstalled the latest version from Nokia but I still get the same problem. When the connection wizard box pops up and I click the next button, I get an error message saying 'There is no available connection type therefore connection to the phone cannot be established. I know its not hardware related because if I boot into XP on the same machine everything works fine. I have noticed in my device manager that five bluetooth peripheral devices have an exclamation mark beside them. If these are Nokia related, Vista cannot retrieve them from the installation CD. I would have thought reinstalling the software would have updated Vistas driver database. Any thoughts/ideas appreciated.

Regards, Paul

Hi Dobeymon,

If you want what you can do is, uninstall all the applications which you have installed of Nokia from the N95 Cd you got, Nokia PC Suite, PC Connectivity solution and Nokia connectivity cable driver etc from your PC. Run reliable PC Suite cleaner on your PC. Then install latest PC Suite 7.0.7.0 from Nokia.com/pcsuite site or even you can install NSeries PC Suite 2.0.262.0 or Nokia OVI PC Suite on your pc. Each pc suite has its own pros and cons. If you want to use PC for sending sms and editing text mssges, stick with Nokia PC Suite 7.0.7.0 or you can opt for other two PC Suites like NSeries and Nokia OVI Suite. But as of now these two PC Suites will not have sms sending and contacts editing option. If you still want to download

Nokia PC Suite 7.0.7.0 :
www.nokia.com/pcsuite

Nokia NSeries PC Suite 2.0.262.0 :
http://www.nseries.com/index.html#l=support,downloads,nseriespcsuite,download

Nokia OVI Suite 1.0 :
http://www.ovi.com/ovi/app/ovi/web/download

Being proud owner of Nokia N 95, you can use any of the above Nokia PC Suites as per your conveience. But as i said earlier, each pc suites has its own pros and cons

After installing any of the pc suite successfully, restart your pc and use original cable provided by nokia and start using the Nokia PC Suites...Best of Luck :icon14:

Thanks for the advice. I miss the sms editing/sending/receiving the most and the ability to back up my phone contents. I will try that today and let you know. Thanks

Paul

Uninstalled all traces of PC Suite also used Ccleaner to make sure the registry was completely free from nokia stuff. Rebooted, installed latest PC Suite from Nokia website, rebooted. Everything now works fine, can now access phone via cable and bluetooth no problems. Thanks for your help.
