i need help... N95 8 gig

7 replies · 4,090 views · Started 15 August 2008

Is there some sort of dummies guide or extended help. I have recently got myself a N95 8 gig. I have downloaded the pdf manual to make it easier to search for items of intrest. But I don't understand the Symbian terminology.

I have downloaded / uploaded the disk that came in the box with the phone but where is the help files on Video Manager, Pc Suite etc. to tell you how to use them.

Also how do I upload 3rd pary software to my phone. I tried cable but seem to loose the location of where the file is stored. So I blue toothed it but where do I save it to. How do I then get the program to run.

Sorry I'm a ex Hp "windows" owner and getting my head around the new Nokia programing is making my brain hurt. Used to own a 6600 but a lot has changed since then.

Thanks
BBJ

That's a pretty broad question, but I'll answer the application bit. The simplest way to install an app is to connect your phone, choose PC Suite, then double-click the application file in Windows and then follow the instructions.

Thanks DevonHammer,

....If you have PC suite already installed then all you need to do to install any 3rd party application is :

1) attach the phone to PC using USB cable, select 'PC Suite' from the options on the phone when prompted ('Data Transfer' mode just effectively turns the phone into a USB storage device with no 'PC suite' funcionality)

2) as DevonHammer said double click the application you want to install on the PC (as you would any other PC Program / shortcut), this will activate the Installation program of PC Suite and transfer the application to the phone and begin the installation process; just follow the prompts on the phone.

I almost definately have left some small steps / prompts out....just use the noddle (if I can do it anyone can 😉 )

...good luck, the learning curve may seem steep, but it is short and worthwhile :icon14:

I have installed install the 3rd party application. Now it says

- Extract files:
- RDAccelerometer.h and RDAccelerometerObserver.h to your SDK's \epoc32\include directory
- *.dso and *.lib files to your SDK's \epoc32\release\armv5\LIB directory

I have the icons on pc but cant read them all. So how do I extract them and what/ where is SDK's \epoc32\include directory

Cheers

....dunno what files you had originally to get all those messages???

...to get the light sabre app on I first installed N95AccelerometerPlugin.sis then LightSabre_S60_3_X_v_1_3.sisx (or what ever version number it is now)

In general 3rd party applications are either *.SIS / *.SISX / or *.JAR files - these are the ones that need installing.

cool I got it woorking 😎:icon14:

Thanks Guys

in the end I had to do this also

Some people are having problems with installation and certificates. If you have a problem Go to

Applications -> App mgr - > Options -> Settings -> Software Installation :

Select All
