It's not only AAS which has guest writers, you know. Over at Darla Mack's site, AAS regular snoyt brings us an epic tale of how an N95 classic performed, week in and week out during some transcontinental journeying. He worked the N95 into the ground, but fear not for a more modern replacement is on its way...

I've just given my N95 the same treatment around Italy. Perfect - no trouble at all and stacks (250 odd) of great photos to show for it!

one travelogue and one comment. Both proudly proclaiming their excessive usage of their gadget. I am no exception. I use my n 82 almost in the same fashion.
But the battery goes for a toss!.
I have no solar chargers available in india. Just wanted to know if we keep on charging our phones so much, won't it wear down. What have been your personal experience? I carry just one n 82 and fear that i probably will need one more phone as my back up. Do you carry one? If i have one n 82, will an e51 suffice? I think so and hope so!
Ashu, instead of carrying 2 phones, why not consider carrying 2 batteries instead? I am sure it will be more convenient to just have an additional battery in your pocket instead of an additional phone. Plus, you need not have your data split between 2 devices. Of course if you want to carry 2 batteries, you will need to buy an individual battery charger.
Another alternative can be the external battery charger / power pack that is offered by Nokia and some other brands (like Proporta). These claim that they can charge most nokia phones upto 2 times. But of course charging will be slower than the speed you get from charing from the mains. If you move around in car, a car charger can be very effective in giving your phone a quick, short recharge and can help it survive the day.
Yes, frequent charging does reduce the life of the battery, but then thats the price we have to pay for been power users... 😊

Thanks! With convergence being the whole concept behind the N95. Contineous use to be expected and considered normal. the word excessive is simply out of the picture in such a case.

A Lithium Ion battery can only be recharged a more or less fixed number of times before degrading seriously. However charging a half full battery counts only as a half count. A Proporta kan keep you phone running/recharging while performing a task. Replacing the battery needs a reboot. As such I prefere the Proporta, besides a proporta can do multiple charges of you battery as well as recharge the bluetooth headset, the N800/N810, another phone.
thanks guys.
Sometimes i really ask silly questions without actually giving it a thought.
I think proporta does sound a viable option.
There are hell lot of advantages of being a power user though, the best one is the awe people have for you when you do hell lot of things with your phone and they don't even have a clue of it despite having almost the same phone!😊

Thanks Steve. You know I'd love to compare the G180 (being European camera phone of the year) versus the N82. But I guess Samsung will play chicken and not borrow me one for a month ;^) Hello Samsung did you hear me? Are you up for a fair test?
