I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the 16gb micro-SD, which apparently has been confirmed to work on the N95 Classic.
Has there been any word on it's release?

No one knows? Or has it been scrapped? 😮
No one seems to know although judging by the number of sites that already have them listed along with prices I'd assume it's fairly imminent.

I thought the 12gb cards were coming out soon, not 16gb ones?
Last I heard, 12Gb was being skipped and companies like SanDisk were going straight for 16Gb. I've seen "16Gb" mentioned on MobyMemory's website for months now, but no actual item for it is listed for purchase.
No word about these 16GB MicroSD cards on the Sandisk forums, I have been checking weekly.!
Some eye candy for you all...

Our sources have informed us that the first shipment of Sandisk 16GB micro SDHC memory will be arriving shortly. Does before the end of September sound good to you? This should come as extra good news to all Nseries or other Nokia devices that are microSDHC compatible, but Nokia N95 8GB and N81 8GB users are of course out of luck this time. Our sources tell us that the N95 passed the test with flying color using the firmware version 21.0.016. With older firmware versions: “the Nokia N95 will not handle the card well at all.” And that: “it may trigger some O/S freezing and rebooting when you try to open the Gallery or Music Player.” After upgrading the firmware: “the phone performance was rock solid and we saw no more of the unpredictable behaviour.”
Over 10GB of music files were loaded onto the SanDisk card and based on the test we were informed that:
-Selecting music tracks via the File Manager was reportedly: “straightforward and quick.” We were also informed that the: “menu lists of music folders, and mp3 files from the memory card updating on the screen with no noticeable slowdown compared to onboard storage. (thats a massive improvement on early symbian phones).”
Devin Balentina wrote:-“The playback of the tracks stored on the card was also faultless, without any skipping or buffering problems, from up to 320kbps encoded MP3 right down to lower bit rates.”-“Going to the Gallery and into Tracks, or into the Music Player from the Music menu folder is a different matter. To those familiar with the Music Player app, this is where a scan of the card contents will commence to update the cached track list. Due to the large number of files (over 4000 MP3 files in this case) this process is very slow. However it is a once only operation, as after the first scan, the cached file is only needing a refresh. To avoid this lengthy scanning process it is possible to upload the tracklist via the Nokia PC Suite which stops your phone having to generate it for you.”
Once again it shows that having devices like the Nseries, that are firmware upgradeable is a must! It’s also clear that phones should not only come with built-in memory, but having a memory card slot makes them quite future proof. The first batch are set to arrive September the 23rd

MobyMemory N95 with 16GB MicroSD Report
That may be real but the speed rating is only 2 and the 6gb I have at the moment is 4 and the speed on it is absolutely crap. Think I'll be waiting for the N96 with built in 16gb
How strange. I have an 8gb card and its v quick. As quick as my 2gb normal sd card.

BTW that card is in upside down 😉
zxon wrote:Wow thanks for the photos Micky! I've pre-ordered mine now.BTW that card is in upside down 😉
Thats why its not all the way in the phone! 😉
Good observation tho!
16gb cards now released i paid 47 pounds delivered for mine it will be here thursday 😊 cant wait
YAY! I received my 16GB card this morning! Now I'm going through the hassle of moving everything off the old 6Gb card...
Excellent zxon. Is it class 4?
Mines been shipped today, so should be here soon 😊
Nah it's a class 2 they sent me. It was sent from the mobymemory website (via the link you gave). Does that mean it's slower?
Bugger. I guess it would be slower yes. How you getting on with it.?
The one I pre-ordered was advertised as Class 4, so if a Class 2 turns up, I will not be a happy bunny, thats for sure!
Where'd you get yours from?
[EDIT] BTW I haven't really tried mine out yet. I'm still copying stuff from my old card to the new one via my computer at work. Have to do it via USB with the phone so it's not quick. The last card I got was a 6Gb, also from mobymemory, when they first came out so maybe that's a class 2 too. If that's the case, it won't seem any worse for me, and I was happy with the speed of the 6Gb.
According to a post on Engadget .. price around 75 pounds ..
I leave the online hunting to you folk

It's class 2 but I haven't noticed any difference in speed so far between it and our old 6gb class 4 with exactly them same files on it.

Got mine from an eBay seller, pre-order, BMC Digital. Advertised as Class 4, but Class 2 turned up.

No-one knows. Sandisk say theres both available, but then they also said that they were not out till next month.
For the moment, it looks like class 2 is the only ones about. I certainly havent seen any different on any forums, no-one is saying they have anything other than a class 2.
I seems what all people are receiving & I am one of them is Class 2 & to make matters worse I cannot get this card to work with my N95-1! It reads that it is a 16GB card but on transfering Videos & music from the 8Gb my phone can only find 145 songs out of what should be 860 & to top it all it finds NO VIDEOS!! 😡
Whether I have a duff card I don't know but so far I am not impressed with the 16GB at all & the transfer rate via USB SanDisk reader is rubbish to say the least!!
I haven't noticed any difference, but maybe my old card was a class 2 as well. I had a similar problem when scanning for music when I put in my 16gb card. It said it found 300+ songs when there should've been 900+. However when I closed the Music player and reopened it, it showed that it had catalogued all the songs. Strange...
