N82 Cut & Paste

Ok, so before everyone most likely jumps down my throat with "We've known this for ages" and "Use the F Search", I couldnt find anything in search and I'm gobsmacked I've only just found out about something that has been bugging the hell out of me since I got my N82 .. The lack of cut and paste via the pencil key.

This has been SOOOO irritating and I have been cursing Nokia for loosing a feature I use literally every day, and then I find out this morning that its been there all the time hiding behind the # key!?! WTF! How did I miss that.

So, if like me you haven't realised that the N82 has Cut & Paste happily waiting for you then press and hold the # key and restore the faith 😊

ps .. if this is already in the forum then obviously I am just runbbish at searching hahahaha

That's where the copy&paste went when S60 phones started coming without the dedicated pencil key.

One could expect it to be documented at least in the User Guide of such models, but I'm not sure if it has (haven't read them that carefully, really, or at all).

OK I may be an idiot in disguise so PLEASE HELP !
Cut and Paste in my web browser is KILLING ME-
the # key is simply trying to change the screen size, so the functionality of that key is NOT cut or paste. OUCH !!! Does anyone know whats the deal with using that in the Nokia browser ???

You can't cut paste text from a web page, cut paste option can be used for copying data to and fro different applications on the phone..

Right. The S60 browser has no support for cut&paste for web page content. It only works in S60 text entry controls/fields/editors.

To select, cut, copy and paste text and html source in the default s60 browser
I built http://mobitol.com which pops the text or source from whatever url you want into a text box for editing. After that it depends on your phone which keys you use to select (pencil / edit key, shift / up arrow key, hash or asterisk) but most s60 phones I imagine let you edit the text if it is in a text box so it should work. There are a bunch of threads devoted to this so forgive me for posting redundant messages, but I figure some people might only be subscribing to their own posts.
